Today, we proudly celebrate the anniversary of Pourakhi Nepal—a journey rooted in courage, solidarity, and justice. For more than two decades, Pourakhi Nepal has stood beside migrant workers, especially women and care workers, transforming pain into power and voices into action.
Our work is guided by a simple belief: migration should be safe, dignified, and a matter of choice—not compulsion. From advocacy for fair recruitment and labor rights to survivor-centered support and policy engagement, Pourakhi Nepal continues to challenge injustice and promote accountability.
This anniversary is not just a celebration of years—it is a reaffirmation of our commitment to gender equality, human rights, and social justice. We thank migrant workers, survivors, allies, partners, and staff who have made this journey possible.
Together, we move forward with hope, resilience, and renewed determination—because when migrant women rise, societies progress.

On 11 December 2025, Pourakhi Nepal convened a multi-stakeholder roundtable to accelerate Nepal’s progress on the Global Compact for Migration (GCM).
Government representatives, civil society, media, returnee migrants, and development partners came together to discuss how Nepal can further strengthen ethical recruitment, decent work and gender-responsive migration governance.
Nepal has made notable progress—yet migrant workers continue to face challenges, including unethical recruitment, high fees, contract substitution, and barriers to justice. The consultation highlighted the need for stronger coordination, policy coherence, and inclusive measures to safeguard the rights and wellbeing of migrant workers.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Basanta Bahadur Bohara, Director of the Foreign Employment Board, for his insightful technical presentation, which enriched the dialogue.
Participants worked together to develop practical, actionable recommendations to support effective GCM implementation and inform future policy engagement and a united step toward safer, fairer, and more dignified migration for all.
