BACKGROUND OF THE LIBRARY:

In Nepal most children have no facilities to read books which interest them.

They read only textbooks, which makes reading a boring affair. After seeing children's libraries in Japan, a group of Nepalese, who visited Osaka-Japan, wanted children in Nepal to discover "READING IS FUN" and develop a life-long reading habit. Nepal Japan Children Library was established in 2000 with the funding provided by Joho Roren in Japan on a piece of land made available by Kathmandu Metro
