A five-day Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL) training was successfully conducted from March 16 to 20 in Kamalamai Municipality, Sindhhuli. The training focused on strengthening the capacity of school nurses to better understand and respond to the socio-emotional and mental health needs of children in school settings.The participants gained in-depth knowledge on child and adolescent mental health (CAMH), including identifying socio-emotional challenges faced by students and understanding their underlying causes. The training emphasized practical skills for early identification and basic management of psychosocial problems, enabling school nurses to provide timely and sensitive support to children.
In addition, participants were also oriented on appropriate referral pathways, ensuring that children requiring specialized care can be connected to relevant services. By equipping school nurses with essential knowledge and skills, the program contributes to creating safer, more inclusive, and mentally healthy educational spaces.
The training brought together 18 school nurses from Sunkoshi Rural Municipality, Marin Rural Municipality, and Kamalamai Municipality.

Empowering Educators on Mental Health and Human Rights
An orientation program on "violence prevention, human rights, and mental health" was successfully conducted at Patan Multiple Campus. The session brought together more than 100 educators, including teachers, lecturers, and professors, creating a strong platform for dialogue and learning.
The orientation focused on enhancing educators’ understanding of the impact of violence on children and adolescents, while also highlighting the importance of mental health and psychosocial well-being within educational spaces. Participants actively engaged in discussions on identifying early signs of distress, responding to cases sensitively, and promoting safe and supportive learning environments.

An orientation session on the ill effects of va**ng and ni****ne use was conducted on 17th March 2026, for Grade 11 students at Ullens School.
The session focused on raising awareness about the health risks associated with va**ng, particularly its impact on the developing adolescent brain. Students were informed that, contrary to popular belief, va**ng is not a safe alternative to smoking, as it contains ni****ne, which is a highly addictive substance, along with other harmful chemicals.
The discussion also highlighted the effects of ni****ne on mental health, including increased anxiety, mood instability, reduced attention span, and the potential for long-term dependency. Additional concerns such as sleep disturbances and heightened stress levels were also addressed.

District-Level Discussion on Child Rights and Child Protection Held in Makwanpur
A one-day district-level discussion on child rights and child protection was successfully held in Makwanpur.
Organized by CWIN Nepal, with support from Shapla Neer and in coordination with District Coordination Committee Makwanpur, the event took place in Hetauda with the participation of 96 representatives from local governments, relevant stakeholders, and child rights advocates.
The discussion covered key issues including the formation and strengthening of child rights committees, the role of child welfare officers, emergency fund mobilization, alternative care, child-friendly local governance, and budget allocation for children. Emphasis was placed on strengthening child protection systems and enhancing coordination among local governments to reduce child labour.
The Chief Guest, Bagmati Province Minister for Social Development Kanchan Bade, highlighted the importance of effective implementation of policies, programs, and budgets to ensure children's rights. Deputy mayors from all 10 local levels, Chief District Officer Basant Adhikari, and social development committee representatives were also present.

A Stress Management Session was organized by CWIN Nepal for the board members and staff of the NCRC-National Child Rights Council. The session was facilitated by experts from the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit of Kanti Children's Hospital, who shared professional insights on mental health and workplace wellbeing. A total of 30 participants attended the program.
During the session, participants openly discussed workplace burnout, explored the underlying causes of stress, and reflected on how professional responsibilities can impact mental health. The interactive discussion created a safe space to share experiences and collectively understand the importance of self-care in demanding work environments. The session concluded with practical stress-relieving exercises that participants can incorporate into their daily routines.

7 Child Labourers Rescued in Hetauda
24th February 2026, Hetauda – A joint monitoring team led by CWIN Nepal through Child Helpline Nepal 1098 Makwanpur, in coordination with the Labour and Employment Office, Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City, and Ward Police Office, rescued 7 child labourers from various workshops and garages in Hetauda–4.
The rescued children, aged between 14 and 17, are currently under the protection of Child Helpline and receiving psychosocial support. Legal procedures are being initiated in line with the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 2056.
So far this fiscal year, 25 children (22 boys and 3 girls) have been rescued through similar monitoring efforts in Makwanpur.
Child labour is a crime. Let’s work together to protect every child’s right to a safe and dignified childhood.
