Tiger technicians from Nepal Tiger Trust are working in the fifth nationwide tiger survey that started from December 16, 2025.
The survey will cover over 8,400 square kilometers across five national parks (Chitwan, Bardia, Parsa, Banke, and Shuklaphanta) and its surrounding areas.
In this scientific survey 1,100 camera is being use to capture tiger's picture which will be analysed by their unique stripe patterns.
The field survey is expected to last about three months, concluding in March 2026. The final results are scheduled to be released on Global Tiger Day (July 29, 2026).
Besides counting number of tigers, this survey aims to evaluate habitat quality, the density of prey (like deer), and the intensity of human-wildlife conflict.
