“Trekking in Nepal has been more than an adventure for me. It has become a healing experience and a kind of therapy,” says 71 year old, totally blind, Margalit Shachar.

Speaking during a talk session organized by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and coordinated by NTB Senior Manager Surya Thapaliya, Margalit shared her experiences of trekking in the Annapurna region and said Nepal offered a unique opportunity to reconnect with nature through sound, touch, smell and other senses.

Margalit, a psychological therapist who has worked for a long time with the Israeli Military and in the Gaza region, had completed Annapurna Circuit last year and is already planning to come back next year to celebrate her daughter's 50th birthday and undertake Langtang Trek.

Ms. Janan Bebar, CDA, described Shachar’s experience as inspiring and with appropriate support and confidence, Nepal's trekking destinations can offer meaningful experiences to everyone.

The Embassy congratulates Margalit for her successful treks and wihses all the best for her next year's plan to trek around Langtang Area.
