The EU is proud to stand with Nepali civil society in its efforts to protect the rights and freedoms of Nepali citizens. During a two-day mission to Kathmandu, ambassadors from EU Member States met with civil society leaders to discuss freedom of expression, press freedom, and human and women’s rights.

The private sector is a key driver of economic growth. 🇪🇺🇳🇵 EU Member States’ Ambassadors began the second day of their mission with discussions with business leaders and entrepreneurs from the manufacturing, FMCG, energy, tourism, and technology sectors. The exchange focused on collaboration and investment opportunities for EU companies in Nepal.

Thank you to the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) for bringing together tourism entrepreneurs and various national bodies. During a luncheon at The Dwarika’s Hotel, ambassadors from EU Member States explored the opportunities and challenges facing Nepal’s tourism sector. The discussions highlighted ways to promote Nepal as a year-round, premium destination for European travellers.

EU Member States Ambassadors appreciated the insightful presentation by Sujeev Shakya, Chair of the Nepal Economic Forum, on Nepal’s economic and political developments. He also shared findings from an EU-supported study on Nepal-to-EU migration and discussed pathways to promote safer migration.

Cyber threats transcend borders and so does innovation. 🇪🇺🇳🇵 GuardSix, a Danish cybersecurity firm based in Nepal, is delivering security solutions that meet global standards from the heart of Kathmandu. During their two-day mission, EU Member States Ambassadors visited GuardSix to learn more about the company’s work and exchange views on the growing EU–Nepal business connections.
