The Nepal government has introduced a new fast-track system to end long delays in printing driving licenses, promising to deliver new license cards within 24 hours of completing the application process. The move comes in coordination with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology to improve efficiency and reduce public inconvenience.
According to officials, once data is received from the Department of Transport Management, the Security Printing Center will print the license card within 24 hours and send it back for distribution. This is expected to significantly reduce waiting time for new applicants, who previously had to wait months to receive their licenses.
In addition, the government has set a target to clear a massive backlog of around 2.1 million pending licenses by the end of Asar. Authorities say all previously delayed licenses will be printed and delivered within this deadline, aiming to solve a long-standing public service issue.
This reform is expected to bring major relief to citizens by making the license system faster, more reliable, and efficient.
