[ Climbing for Life screened the Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival]
On 30 May, Ambassador Maeda watched a special screening of Japanese film (てっぺんの向こうにあなたがいる) “Climbing for Life” at the Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival. The drama features Japanese actor portraying Junko Tabei as the main character and is based on her adventurous life.
Earlier, Climbing for Life was also screened at the 38th Tokyo International Film Festival held in October of 2025, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Junko Tabei’s historic achievement as the first woman to summit Mount Everest.
We’re thrilled that this film—so deeply connected to Nepal—was shown at KIMFF in Kathmandu. Even more exciting, congratulations on winning the “Audience Award,” as voted by festival audiences!
