H. E. Ms Sarah B. Rogers, Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy of the United States, paid a call on Hon. Mr Shisir Khanal, Minister for Foreign Affairs, at the Ministry today.

On the occasion, discussions were held on ways to further strengthening decades long Nepal-US relations, with particular emphasis on enhanced cooperation in investment, trade, culture and tourism.

Hon. Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr Shisir Khanal held a telephone conversation with Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs of the United States of America Ms Allison Ho**er today.

During the conversation, the Under Secretary of State congratulated him for assuming the Office of Foreign Minister and conveyed the US Government's commitment to work closely with the Government of Nepal.

Hon. Minister Khanal expressed his appreciation for the message of congratulations and conveyed sincere gratitude on behalf of the Government of Nepal to the US Government for the continued cooperation in Nepal's overall development.

Hon. Foreign Minister also shared with the Under Secretary of State the Government's priority of good governance and economic growth through investments in infrastructure, energy, tourism and digital technology.

Under Secretary of State appreciated on behalf of the US Government, Nepal's priority of national development and affirmed US support in the process.

The Hon. Foreign Minister and the Under Secretary of State discussed the eight-decade long cooperative relations between Nepal and the United States and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation at bilateral and multilateral levels for mutual benefit.

Foreign Secretary Mr Amrit Bahadur Rai addressed the meeting of ‘Economic Diplomacy Programme Review Mechanism' organised at the Ministry today to review programmes and activities on economic diplomacy conducted by the Nepali Missions abroad in the FY 2081/082.

On the occasion, progress status of the programmes under review was presented and discussion was held on the ways to make the economic diplomacy programmes further effective and result-oriented.

The members of the Mechanism, representing the Ministries and agencies concerned as well as the private sector and the Non-Resident Nepali Association, were present in the meeting.
