박태영 주네팔대사는 5월 28일(목) 216MW 발전 용량의 어퍼트리슐리(UT)-1 수력발전소 건설 현장을 방문하여 수문 가동 기념 행사에 참석하였습니다. 박 대사는 우리 기업의 헌신과 이해관계자 간 긴밀한 협력 덕분에 그간 UT-1 수력발전소 건설 과정에서의 여러 어려움을 극복해 왔다고 평가하며, 내년도 상업 운전까지 공정이 성공적으로 마무리되기를 기대하였습니다. 또한 이 프로젝트는 국제 금융기관과 우리 공공 금융기관 등이 투자자로 참여한 에너지 협력의 대표적인 모범 사례로서, 발전소 완공 시 네팔의 전력 수급 안정 및 한-네팔 경제 협력에 크게 기여할 것이라고 하였습니다.

[Attendance at the Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project Weir Gate Installation Ceremony (May 28)]

Ambassador Park Taeyoung of the Republic of Korea to Nepal attended the ceremony for the operation of the weir gate at the construction site of the 216 MW Upper Trishuli (UT)-1 Hydropower Project on Thursday, May 28, in Rasuwa.

In his remarks, Ambassador Park noted that the project has been able to overcome various challenges throughout the construction process thanks to the dedication of Korean companies involved and the close cooperation among all stakeholders. He also expressed his hope that the remaining construction work would proceed smoothly toward the successful commencement of commercial operation next year. Ambassador Park further emphasized that the project represents a leading example of energy cooperation involving investments from international financial institutions as well as Korean public financial institutions. He added that, upon completion, the project is expected to contribute significantly to Nepal's energy security and to the further strengthening of economic cooperation between Nepal and Korea.

The ceremony, hosted by KOEN (Korea South-East Power Co.) and NWEDC (Nepal Water and Energy Development Company), was also attended by the Member of Parliament representing Rasuwa, officials from Nepal's Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, representatives from partner companies including Doosan Enerbility, and local residents.

박태영 주네팔대사는 5.26.(화) 「지역사회 내 자립생활을 위한 휠체어 지원 사업」 관련 휠체어 전달식에 참석해 축사하였습니다. 금번 행사는 네팔장애인기금(Nepal Disabled Fund)이 주관하고 엄홍길휴먼재단 및 미국 소재 후원기관들의 지원으로 개최되었으며, 네팔 각 지역 장애인을 대상으로 총 260대의 휠체어를 지원하는 사업입니다.
박 대사는 이번 사업이 단순한 휠체어 지원을 넘어 이동권 보장과 자립생활 지원, 사회참여 확대에 기여하는 의미 있는 협력이라고 평가하고, 수혜자와 가족들에게 실질적인 도움이 되기를 기대한다고 밝혔습니다. 또한 대한민국은 앞으로도 네팔 내 사회적 약자의 복지 증진과 포용적 발전을 위한 협력을 지속해 나갈 것이라고 언급하였습니다.

[Attendance on Wheelchair Distribution Ceremony Organized by Um Hong Gil Human Foundation (26.5.26.)]

On May 26, 2026, Ambassador Park Taeyoung attended and delivered remarks at the wheelchair distribution ceremony held in connection with the “Wheelchair for Living Independently in the Community” project. The event was organized by the Nepal Disabled Fund with support from the Um Hong Gil Human Foundation and supporting organizations from the United States, and aims to provide a total of 260 wheelchairs to persons with disabilities from various districts across Nepal.

In his remarks, Ambassador Park noted that this initiative goes beyond simply providing wheelchairs and represents meaningful cooperation that contributes to ensuring mobility rights, supporting independent living, and expanding social participation. He expressed his hope that the project would provide practical support to the beneficiaries and their families. Ambassador Park also reaffirmed that the Republic of Korea will continue its cooperation to promote the welfare of socially vulnerable groups and inclusive development in Nepal.

[남아시아 통합 및 협력 증진 세미나 개최 (26.5.26.)]

한국대사관은 26.5.26. 네팔 외교부와 공동으로 남아시아 통합 및 협력 증진 세미나를 개최하여, 협력 현황을 살피고 앞으로의 협력 증진 방안을 모색하였습니다.

박태영 대사가 환영사를, 네팔 외교부 지역기구국장이 외교장관을 대신하여 모두발언을, SAARC 국장이 사무총장을 대신하여 폐회사를 하였습니다.

동 세미나에는 네팔 정부, SAARC, 학계, 외교단, 언론 등에서 100여 명이 참석하였습니다.

[Seminar on Enhancing Regional Integration and Cooperation in South Asia (26.5.26.)]

On May 26, 2026, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Nepal, jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal, hosted a seminar on enhancing regional integration and cooperation in South Asia. The seminar reviewed the current status of cooperation and explored ways to further enhance regional collaboration.

Ambassador Park Taeyoung delivered welcoming remarks, while the Joint Secretary of the Regional Organization Division of Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs delivered remarks on behalf of the Foreign Minister. The Director of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation delivered closing remarks on behalf of the Secretary-General.

The seminar was attended by around 100 participants from the Government of Nepal, South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, academia, the diplomatic corps, and the media.
