Pleased to bring out the maiden issue of the Journal of Foreign Affairs. It includes 12 essays that offer critical thinking on the most pressing issues on Nepal's foreign policy and international relations.

IFA, in association with NIPORe, held a webinar on 23rd of March, 2021, on National Attributes in Nepali Foreign Policy Making. The foreign policy experts Prof. Dr. Jayraj Acharya, Dr. Dinesh Bhattarai and Dr. Nischalnath Pandey expressed their views on the issue. The program was moderated by Mr. Rajesh Shrestha, Executive Director of IFA and concluded with the vote of thanks by Santosh Sharma Poudel, the Co-founder of NIPORe.

"US Foreign Policy under Biden Administration: Implications to South Asia and Nepal"

Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA) in association with Nepal Institute for Policy Research (NIPoRe) jointly organized a "Diplomats' Forum" on Webinar over the title "US Foreign Policy under Biden Administration: Implications to South Asia and Nepal". The former Nepali Envoy to the UN, Dr Shambhuram Simkhada delivered his opinion as the Keynote Speaker on the title on which the prominent Professor of International Relations and Diplomacy Dr Khadga KC put forward his invaluable remarks. Additionally, Mr Arjun Bahadur Thapa, former Secretary-General of SAARC and Dr Lila Nyaichai of Tribhuvan University also contributed their informed ideas on the issues debated at the program.
Executive Director of IFA, Mr Rajesh Shrestha had delivered the welcome remarks and Deputy Executive Director of IFA, Dr Rupak Sapkota had moderated the session. Mr Matrika Poudyal, Resource Person of IFA, the senior executives from NIPoRe including Dr Santosh Poudel and Jay Jung Mahat were among the members of the organizing team. The program was embellished with the valued participation of the distinguished scholars of a various institution.

**Orientation Program held for Defence Attachés**

With the collaboration of the office of the Director-General of Military Intelligence (DGMI) of the Nepali Army, Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA), Nepal has successfully completed an orientation program for the Military/Defence Attachés designated.

The orientation program was held on 17-20 September 2020 at Tribhuvan Army Officers’ Club, Bhadrakali, Kathmandu with obeying an adequate health protocol.

** Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA) signs MoU with the Policy Research Institute (PRI) **

On September 10, the Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA) and the Policy Research Institute (PRI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) affirming institutional collaboration in areas of mutual interests. The MoU enables us to jointly engage in research and publications, exchange of expertise and resources, workshops and seminars, and multilateral collaboration with other academic bodies and policy institutions.

On the occasion, executives of both think tanks also discussed and outline to conduct joint studies on the mainstream think tanks in South Asia and China, explore the bottlenecks of trade facilitation and other potential areas in which both institutions can collaborate.

Mr Rajesh Shrestha, Executive Director; Dr Rupak Sapkota, Deputy Executive Director; Mr Madhavji Shrestha, Senior Resource Person; and Mr Sanuraj Puri, Information Officer were present on the occasion from the IFA.

Similarly, the PRI was represented by Dr Bishnu Raj Upreti, Executive Chairperson along with Dr Deepak Kumar Khadka, Head of Research Department; Mr Purushottam Tiwari, Office Manager; Dr Mukunda Kattel, Head of Information and Knowledge Management Department; and Dr Anuj Tiwari, Associate Research Fellow (National Interest, Foreign Policy and Strategic Affairs).
