On May 22, 2026, a cleanup campaign was conducted at Begnas Lake and Neureni Lake of the Metropolitan City under the Green Jobs Creation through Recycling and Upcycling in Pokhara (GCRU) Project.

The GCRU Project, implemented by CLEAN UP NEPAL in joint venture with Green Road Waste Management, continues to contribute towards promoting green employment opportunities and sustainable waste management practices within the community. The project is implemented with support from KOICA 네팔 사무소 (KOICA Nepal Office) and UNDP Nepal in coordination with Pokhara Metropolitan City.

The cleanup initiative was jointly organized with the active participation of ward representatives, local organizations, community leaders, volunteers, and all Social Mobilizers from both Doko Recyclers and Green Road Waste Management, making the campaign a grand success while encouraging environmental responsibility and community cleanliness.

Thank you to the Jayamul Aama Samuha members from Ward 2 of Pokhara for putting your learning into action! Source segregation of plastic and other recyclable waste — and channeling them directly to recycling companies — is one of the most impactful things we as citizens can do to support our ecosystem.
Rather than focusing solely on one-day cleanup campaigns, it is this kind of disciplined, consistent action from every community that truly moves the needle. Your commitment is building a waste management success story that others can look up to and follow.
Pokhara Metropolitan City Office पाेखरा महानगरपालिका कार्यालय can scale this up with other communities as well.

(A Lesson to be Learned)

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone from the ACAP region from Manang, Chhomrong, and Jhinu who supported and coordinated the recent waste collection efforts 🙏♻️

Last week, through collective action, we successfully received the following clean and dry recyclable wastes :

• 94 sacks of cans and 1 sack of glass from Jhinu
• 678 kg of tin, 80 sacks of glass, and 25 sacks of plastic from Manang
• 56 sacks of glass and 46 sacks of plastic from Chhomrong

This is not just waste — it’s a step towards cleaner trails, responsible tourism, and a circular economy. All collected materials are being processed for recycling and upcycling by our team at Green Road Waste Management Pvt. Ltd.

Special thanks to the local communities, partners, and stakeholders of the ACAP region for making this possible. Your effort is directly contributing to a cleaner Himalaya

Let’s keep this momentum going!
