A Tribute to the Nauru Health Promotion Pioneer the late Mrs Ruby Thoma. Nauru Health Promotion was founded in 1998 and was run solely by Mrs Thoma for one year till 2 staff were recruited to the unit. A vibrant and outspoken lady who made lasting impressions at every forum, gathering or function she attended. She was very well known in the regional and international Health arena for reiterating her philosophy of "Do what I say, not what I do". Her legacy lies in this unit where it has expanded from 3 staff to nearly 20 staff.

Thank you for instilling in us the foundations, values, skills and knowledge of Health Promotion to create a healthier living for all people in Nauru.
May you rest peacefully Mrs Ruby Thoma ❀
