MENS HEALTH WEEK: Men's Health and Cancer Awareness

Early detection saves lives. Regular skin checks, bowel screening when eligible, and discussing prostate health with your GP are important parts of staying well. If you notice a change in your health that doesn't seem right, get it checked. It's always better to ask the question than wish you had.

MENS HEALTH WEEK: Move More, Feel Better

You don't need a gym membership to improve your health. A brisk walk, working around the farm, fishing, cycling or getting outdoors can all make a difference. Regular physical activity improves heart health, boosts mood, reduces stress and helps maintain strength as we age.

MENS HEALTH WEEK: Mental Health Matters

Strong men talk. Life can be challenging, and stress, anxiety and depression can affect anyone. Checking in with a mate, talking to whānau, or reaching out for professional support is a sign of strength, not weakness. You don't have to carry everything on your own.

Need to talk? Free call or text any time for support from a trained counsellor. 1737

MENS HEALTH WEEK - Don't Ignore the Check Engine Light

Men are great at looking after cars, boats and tractors, but often put their own health last. If something doesn't feel right, don't wait for it to get worse. A simple check-up can identify problems early, when they are often easier to treat. Looking after your health isn't just for you, it's for the people who rely on you too.

What a century of stories, strength, and sparkle ✨

Today we celebrate an extraordinary milestone - 100 wonderful years of Ms. Truman. A true treasure in our community, Ms. Truman has lived through generations of change, carrying with her wisdom, warmth, and a lifetime of memories that continue to inspire us all.

Her special day was made even brighter by a visit from the amazing students of Akaroa Area School, who filled the room with joy. The smiles, laughter, and connection between young and young-at-heart was something truly special - a beautiful reminder of the strength of our community.

Ms. Truman, your 100 years are a remarkable achievement and a legacy to be proud of. Thank you for sharing your journey with us - we are so lucky to celebrate alongside you.

Here’s to a century well lived, and a day filled with love, laughter, and cake 🎂💛
