What's wrong with this picture at Amberley Station?
Absolutely NOTHING! ❤️

This is what being part of the Amberley Volunteer Fire Brigade is all about – we're one big family, always looking out for one another and always ready to have each other's backs.

What better way to end and celebrate National Volunteer Week than surrounded by the amazing people who give their time, skills, and commitment to serve our community?
A huge thank you to the crews who stopped by and visited yesterday while we were out keeping busy. Your support, camaraderie, and willingness to lend a hand are what make the fire service such a special whānau to be part of.
Happy National Volunteer Week to all our volunteers – thank you for everything you do! 🚒❤️

Please be sensible and stay safe!

Update @ 1615hrs - We are in attendance at a large fire in Selwyn Road, Rolleston. Please stay away from the area to allow our crews to work safely to get this fire under control.

Fire and Emergency are in attendance at multiple wildfires across the Canterbury District.

We are currently at a large wildfire outside of the Hawarden township. This fire was reported to us at 14:18hrs. We have 16 fire appliances on scene and 1 helicopter on route. The fire is not threatening the township. The fire is not contained or controlled at this stage. Please stay away from the area and allow our crews to work safely.

We are also in attendance at a fire in Mount Culverden, where 8 fire appliances are currently trying to control a wildfire.

We have 7 crews in attendance at a fire near Waiau and 14 crews at a fire in Gebbies Valley. These fires are under control with crews working to make sure they are fully extinguished.

We have been in attendance at a scrub fire near Intake Rd, Kirwee since 08.35. Crews have worked hard to get this fire under control and are now making sure it is fully extinguished.

It is important that anyone who has had a fire in the past few weeks checks on them NOW to make sure they are fully extinguished!

🚒💙 National Volunteer Week 2026 💙🚒
This week we celebrate the incredible people who give their time, energy, skills, and heart to support our community. We are incredibly proud and lucky to have others who also work the hard Mahi with us.
At Amberley Volunteer Fire Brigade, our volunteers come from all walks of life, yet they share one common goal – being there when our community needs them most. Whether it's responding to fires, motor vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, severe weather events, community education, fundraising, training, or maintaining our equipment and station, our volunteers are always ready to answer the call.
Behind every pager activation are dedicated individuals and supportive families who make countless sacrifices to serve others. Their commitment, professionalism, and willingness to help make a real difference every day.
To all our brigade members, support personnel, families, and volunteers throughout New Zealand – thank you for everything you do. Your contribution strengthens our communities and makes them safer places to live.
This National Volunteer Week, we proudly celebrate and acknowledge every volunteer who helps keep our community safe.
🚒

A huge thank you to all your brigade members and their families for the time and dedication they give to the Amberley community. 💙🚒
