Yesterday, our school treble choir “Elysium” performed at The Big Sing Auckland Regions at the Auckland Town Hall, along with 80 other school choirs who performed throughout the week. This year is the first year we've ever had a choir compete at The Big Sing choir competition! They formed at the start of 2026 and have been rehearsing every Friday since February. They have performed at both Ormiston Junior College and the Summerset By The Park Retirement Village in preparation for The Big Sing, and performed exceptionally at the event. The choir performed a traditional cook island song Kua ‘Iti Te Marama, Abendlied by Mendelssohn and Super Trouper by ABBA. The choir was very proud to represent our school and community at the event for the first time. We would like to thank Mr Rameka and Ms Daly, all the students who were involved, including our accompanists, and parents/ caregivers for the tireless hours that went into making this event possible.
Here is the video of us performing Mr Reuben Rameka’s arrangement of “Super Trouper” by ABBA at the Gala concert yesterday evening. Enjoy!

Kia ora, we are pleased to report that the student is now with her family, and again ask that they are given the privacy, time and space to reconnect.

We are aware of community concern regarding one of our students, who did not return home from school yesterday. We understand that contact has now been made with the family, confirming that the student is safe. Thank you to everyone for your care and concern. We ask that people continue to show support by respecting the privacy of the student and her whānau at this time.

Showquest was on 11th June this term and we had 40 students perform "Think inside the box" an original 10 minute piece directed by students Kiana Paoo and Jordyn Pillay.
While the group didn't get a top 3 finish, they came away with the following awards:
Excellence in Music (original composition) - Aayush Sharma
Excellence in Technology (video design) - Marcus Ng
Public Speaking Award - Kiana and Jordyn
Recognition in Drama - Teresa, Chelsea, Aaron, Nehal
School Spirit Award
We are the only school to be awarded Public Speaking and School Spirit.
The leaders are:
Teresa - Lead performer
Kiana and Jordyn - Directors
Brooklyn - Choreographer
Marcus - Lighting & Video wall
Aayush - Sound
Elise and Kath - Costumes
Betty - Props
Last but not least, Kiana and Jordyn were contacted by one of the judges and offered an internship. This is not a "normal" Showquest outcome, they just impressed her so much with their leadership and speaking - it is an excellent example of how these events open up new opportunities for our students.
Thank you to everyone who has shown support to the students during their rehearsals. They have been rehearsing for two terms - with majority of rehearsals being after school until 8.30pm - we are very proud of them and their achievements

Year 12 & 13 Food Technology Research Trip 👩🍳👨🍳
On Thursday, May 21st, our Senior Food Technology students visited Sylvia Park in Mount Wellington to conduct primary market research for their upcoming internal assessments.
The excursion challenged students to bridge the gap between classroom theory and industry reality:
TEF3: Investigated cafe operations, evaluating product presentation, consumer demographics, and pricing structures to inspire their upcoming assessment trials.
TEF2: Analysed the competitive gourmet burger market, conducting staff interviews to evaluate cooking techniques, sauce formulations, and product development opportunities.
This hands-on experience allowed our students to successfully audit existing products, identify market gaps, and gain critical insights that will form the foundation of their practical write-ups. Well done to all involved for representing the school so professionally!
