The drizzle has made it very slippery on the bank we were aiming to work on today folks so we've made the call to put off the scheduled working bee this morning. We'll get the toetoe planted on the Arthur St. Street bank as soon as it's safe to do so!

Enjoy your Sunday morning and keep warm!

Two working bees at the Onehunga Peoples Garden this weekend May 16th/17th!

Saturday 10–11am: Our youth sustainability leaders are planting koromiko, toetoe, karamū and harakeke. Adults welcome to join our rangatahi and get stuck in.

Sunday 9–11am: Retainer building by the shed, pathway work down to the boardwalk, and finishing off any planting from Saturday.

Everyone welcome, come for one or both days. Below are the locations we'll be working on. See you there!

Last Sunday's working bee was a harakeke (flax) wānanga led by our local resident weaver Mason Lawlor. We learned a lot about the varieties and uses of our harakeke stands and how to harvest and care for them in the right way. Mahia te mahi, hei painga mō te whenua - Work for the benefit of the land. Mauri ora!

We hosted a fantastic team of eco-enthusiasts from Beca Engineering last week. They made a significant impact in multiple locations of the OPG site. Get in touch if you'd like to have a corporate day for your team in the garden!

Unfortunately we've decided to rain date today's event as a heavy patch of weather is coming through around 10am and the ground is very soggy. So we'll reschedule a pop up next Sunday, which is Matariki weekend. Thanks for your support!

We have a Working Bee this Sunday the 15th from 9-11am! The Garden is looking great and thought you might enjoy one more before and after shot (below) looking southwest from near our older bridge. Hope to see you Sunday!

This week marks ten years since we incorporated in 2015 then began work clearing and planting soon after. The photos below show how far we've come though as you can see around our new boardwalk, there is still morning glory to deal with. Come along and lend a hand with it on Sunday 9-11am if you can!
