N/A. We are a community of students and staff who are committed to the University as a site of intellectual expansion and academic freedom.

We believe the University should function as the ‘critic and conscience of society’ and as an open space for expression of dissent. The escalating profit-driven and market-oriented agenda of the University over the last thirty years has eroded these principles. We are committed to reclaiming the University, and we believe in

Our senior management's unwillingness to support a living wage is further evidence of the corporate paradigm they apply to the staff and students of the University.

McCutcheon sees students only as a means of income and the working staff, only as a means to an end. While he earns over $660,000 a year, a significant proportion of our staff earn less than the living wage.

According to One News' VOTE2014, every party apart from National and ACT are either 'neutral', 'somewhat' supportive or 'strongly' supportive of fully funded, fee free tertiary education.

Mana, NZ First, the Maori Party and United future all strongly support it. The Greens are somewhat supportive while Labour is neutral. Interestingly, even the Conservatives are somewhat supportive of a debt-free future for NZ students.

This is just another reminder that fully funded, fee free education is absolutely possible. However, it starts with us -- nothing will change unless we demand it.
