Mai arara, mai arara! ⚔️
Ko te kapua kei runga o Kumite,
ka tau iho hei roimata mō Rotokākahi.
Mai arara, e te Kāhui ariki, te Kāhui tipua, te Kāhui uri!
After years of being ignored and shut out of decisions about our own roto, RBOC is taking Rotorua Lakes Council to the High Court Monday 1 December.
Council has skipped proper consultation, pulled last-minute legal tricks, and acted like mana whenua don’t matter. We say. Not anymore.
Rotokākahi has been protected by our people for generations, and we’re not letting anyone bulldoze our tupuna, Taiao or our mana motuhaketanga guaranteed underTe Tiriti just because it’s convenient for them.
So here’s the karanga:
Fill the courtroom.
Whānau, hapū, Te Arawa whānui, all iwi, Tangata Moana whānau, and Tangata Tiriti allies. if you stand for the environment, for mana whenua decision-making, and for Te Tiriti being honoured, this is your responsibility too.
📍 High Court Rotorua
📅 Monday 1st & 2nd December
⏰ 10am: Come early — let them see our Kotahitanga, our banners and our flags
For the Tupuna, for our Taiao. For our tamaraiki, and for the future.
W.T.F = Where’s the future
We demand the future affirmed in Te Tiriti

💪🏾 Your vote has Mana.
🗳️ Vote Yes to Māori Wards.
🫱🏾🫲🏼 Māori representation and voices don’t take anything away, they actually add value to our local council boards.
🪑 Māori taking seats at the local council table, means we ALL start to get some fair representation.
🫶🏽 All of this contributes to the honouring of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a step toward Matike Mai.
