🚨 WANTED: One unloved car 🚨
The crew at the Helensville Volunteer Fire Brigade are looking for a vehicle to donate for an upcoming training night for car cutting/extrication practice.
So if you’ve got:
✅ A car that’s failed its warrant
✅ Something taking up space in the paddock
✅ A “project car” that hasn’t moved since the last Rugby World Cup
✅ Or a vehicle your partner keeps asking “when are you getting rid of that thing?”…
…we may be able to give it one final glorious purpose 😅
The vehicle doesn’t need to run, but preferably still has doors, roof, and seats intact so our firefighters can practice realistic rescue scenarios safely.
If you’ve got something suitable, flick us a message. We’d greatly appreciate the support from the community to help keep our training sharp.

Serving the Helensville & Parakai Community The Helensville Volunteer Fire Brigade was formed at the Helensville Town Board meeting on October 9th 1914.
The Town Board had previously called for volunteers and at this meeting the Robinson brothers and three others were appointed as the Brigade with powers to accept others. The formation of a fire brigade at this early date was the culmination of several factors. Helensville at the time as a relatively large town built out of wood (high fire risk) and it was growing. Today members of Helensville Volunteer Fire Brigade took on the Sky Tower Firefighter Challenge in support of Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand.
Climbing 1,103 steps in full firefighting gear and breathing apparatus is no easy task, but the team pushed hard for a great cause 💪🔥
A huge thank you to everyone in the Helensville community and beyond who donated and supported the cause. Your generosity helps support New Zealanders and families affected by blood cancers.

Start Preparing Now
Cyclone Vaianu is expected to move southwards across the North Island on Sunday, 12 April. The combination of damaging winds, heavy rain and coastal inundation makes this a multi-hazard, potentially life-threatening event. The locations of the most severe impacts associated with Cyclone Vaianu, such as power outages, falling trees, flooding, slips, road closures and isolated communities are highly dependent on the cyclone's track.
How you can prepare now
•Start preparing your property – check your drains and gutters to ensure they aren’t blocked and clear tree branches, leaves and debris. These can cause flooding issues during heavy rain. Put away or tie down any loose outdoor furniture and trampolines in case of high winds.
•Get ready in case of power outages. Check you’ve got a torch and batteries, keep your phone and power banks charged, and have a battery-operated radio (or your car radio as an alternative).
•Plan travel accordingly. Make sure you drive to the conditions and never drive through floodwaters or over slips.
•The forecast is for predicting large swells and high energy waves. The conditions are not looking ideal for boating or shore fishing.
