Sometimes, enrichment starts with a simple net and a lot of patience. 🦗🌿

Our volunteers help collect live grasshoppers to provide natural feeding opportunities for our monkeys. 🐒

Watching them reach, catch and eat their food helps encourage natural behaviors and keeps them active and engaged.

From a quick sas! sas! with the net to a happy little hand reaching for a snack, every small action can make a difference. 💚

Want to be part of their daily care?

🌿 WORLD ANIMAL DAY | 4 OCTOBER 🐾

Animals deserve, above all, our respect.

Respect for their lives.
Respect for their habitats.
Respect for the ecosystems they belong to.

Maybe today is not simply about celebrating animals. Today, we honour them. We notice them. We appreciate them.

Today, we also honour the wildlife caregivers and volunteers who dedicate their time, patience and hearts to these animals. 🐾

If you believe their lives matter too, help us share this message 🙌🏼!

Like, comment, share, and repost so your friends and family can see it, remember this day, and remember that animals are not separate from our world.

They are part of it. And so are we. 🦋💚

Over the past few months, Pilpintuwasi has been filled with energy, dedication, and so much heart. 💚

We want to express our deepest gratitude to our incredible volunteers , , Arnaud Tam Loiacono, , .hu , ,Ned McNaughton, , Denis Guérin , Samuel Guérin, .vilar , .kla , , for every hour spent, every smile, and the unforgettable mark you’ve left at Pilpintuwasi.

To our dear Cinthia , for guiding and supporting our volunteers with so much patience and enthusiasm every day. And to our beloved Sigrun , for stepping up with so much love, strength, and dedication to lead our whole team and the center over these past months.

This video is a small tribute to those who gave their time, effort, energy, and endless love to every animal we care for. May life protect you and shower your journeys with blessings.

Always remember: once a part of the Pilpintuwasi family, always a part of it. 🦋✨

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Moritz is still a little one, and he is very playful. He loves to explore, discover new things and, of course, get into a little mischief. 😏

He has now started venturing out into the forest, where he can explore, climb, hang, observe and learn all the things a young red uakari needs to discover as he grows and adapts to life in the jungle. 🌿

He is healthy, growing strong, and slowly becoming more confident in his surroundings. And judging by that tongue… he seems to be enjoying every minute of it. 😛❤️

If you’d like to support Moritz and the other animals at Pilpintuwasi, you can make a donation through our PayPal link. Every donation, big or small, helps us continue rescuing and caring for wildlife. 💚

Meet the Orange-winged Amazons (Amazona amazonica). While these vibrant birds form strong, lifelong bonds in the wild, they are currently among the most poached bird species in Peru, illegally trafficked to urban centers like Lima.

⚠️The grim reality of the illegal wildlife trade is that 9 out of 10 poached animals die during transport from severe stress and cruelty, with thousands of parrots ripped from the Amazon each year just to be sold as pets.

Birds are not pets, and cages are not homes. 🚫🏠

Support wildlife rescue efforts, spread awareness, and help Pilpintuwasi defend the Amazon's biodiversity. 🍃💚

📩 Want to support our work? Send us a direct message (DM) to learn how you can donate and support our rescue center.

In our Amazon, we don’t wait for spring to see life bloom. The bright red flowers and butterflies you see in this video pollinate and bring color to the rainforest 365 days a year. 🌱✨

But we cannot turn a blind eye to what is happening around us. In Iquitos, deforestation and the contamination of the Nanay River threaten the balance of our entire ecosystem. What harms the river isn't always visible to the naked eye, but it deeply affects the wildlife that inhabits it and the conservation work we do at Pilpintuwasi.

We urge you to join this cause. Your support and awareness shouldn't be just for a rescue center or a social media post, but for protecting the source of life that surrounds us. Without a clean Nanay River and standing forests, there is no future for biodiversity. 💚🖐️

🌿 Meet our partner, Anguila Lodge!

For years, Anguila has been a special place for our volunteers to rest and recharge after their days at Pilpintuwasi. A beautiful, spacious and peaceful place surrounded by nature.
There are no fancy luxuries here just something even more valuable: peace, simplicity, and the feeling of being connected with nature. 💚

We are deeply grateful to Mr. Eduardo and the Anguila family for this friendship and for welcoming our volunteers year after year. Mr. Eduardo often helps our young volunteers settle in and feel at home when they arrive. 🏡🌿

✨ Would you like to become a volunteer?

📩 Get in touch with us to learn about the requirements.
We still have spots available for 2026, and volunteers are already booking their stays for 2027!

🦋 The beginning of a new generation

In nature, every encounter has a purpose. These two beautiful butterflies were photographed during mating, an important moment in their life cycle.

Did you know that after mating, the female lays tiny eggs that hatch in about 6 days? The caterpillar then spends around 20–30 days feeding and growing, followed by about 14 days as a chrysalis, before emerging as a beautiful butterfly. 🥚🐛🦋 As adults, they can live for several weeks, with individuals recorded for up to 62 days.

At Pilpintuwasi, you can see these beautiful butterflies and many other species in our Butterfly House! We invite you to come and discover them up close and learn more about the fascinating world of butterflies.

We are open:
-> From Monday to Sunday, from 9 AM to 4 PM The guided tour lasts approximately 1 hour
