The 1st time and last time I visited Saga'ahu was on the 11th-14th March 2016.
I would like to bring to the attention Of Health Department the water problem this people of Saga'aho face every day.
The following photo is of a water used for doing dishes and laundry. This page doesn't allow me to upload more then one picture at one time. Their drinking water is about 5 meters away from this pool in the picture bellow. Pigs do go up and dig around this which is not safe. They need good water supply.
Elementary and Primary School children of this community do have a great challenge that they face every high tide and during rainy seasons. This is the big river mouth- Saga'ahu+Suwen/Sigei rivers. They are 3 different rivers combined. The closest Primary school is Savaia. Almost 95-99% of primary school student go to Savaia. The children go cross Saga'ahu river then to Suwen/Sigei rivers to Savaia. When the tide is high in the mornings, they hardly cross. They also can't cross the rivers when they are flooding. Its neither safe at calm whether because the rivers and river mouth are too big and crocodiles do leave in there.
Can the Health Department and Provincial Government do something for the people of Saga'ahu. Please provincial gornment can you do something helpful like buying a feri for transporting the school children. Build a dam too and pipe clean and safe water down to their homes rather then issuing small solar lamps that don't last for years.
Thank you,
Concerned health personal.
