The Australian High Commission is running an exciting new initiative connecting PNG women entrepreneurs in tourism, creative industries and food industries with counterparts from indigenous Australia – the Laikim Sister program.

The Project is a business exchange initiative designed to strengthen cultural and business connections between indigenous women operators in Australia and Papua New Guinea.

Laikim Sister will bring together 10 Indigenous Australian and 10 Papua New Guinean women business owners or operators into Port Moresby in October for one week and again into Cairns in November 2019.

The program is designed to spark innovation in the traditional foods, cultural tourism and creative industries through:

• ‘Look and See’: participants immersing themselves in experiences that expose them to new business ideas and creative and traditional practices.
• Storytelling: sharing cultural and personal stories that help facilitate connections beyond their professional domain.
• Tools: Practical business tools that support participants to take action for their growth.
