The “Admit Until Date” is the last day you’re allowed to stay in the U.S. It is not the date on your visa! Always check your I-94 after arrival to avoid overstaying.

U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Berenberg met with SpaceX, the U.S. company which created Starlink!

SpaceX's Rebecca Hunter visited the American Corner in Port Moresby, which provides free computers and internet to the public.

The Embassy is thrilled that Starlink is now licensed and operational across Papua New Guinea. This milestone represents the increasing commercial and economic ties between our two countries and is a yet another piece of tangible proof of U.S. business presence in Papua New Guinea. This unique American technology will be especially transformational in remote parts of the country that do not otherwise have internet connectivity.

Economic growth that is sustainable and transparent generates opportunities for both Papua New Guinea and US firms. The Embassy has been heartened about the many positive stories on Starlink and can't wait to see the positive impact Starlink will have six months from now.

On this Memorial Day, we honor the memory of the American servicemen and servicewomen who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of peace, freedom, and security.

US Fulbright-National Geographic Explorer helps Papua New Guinea students connect science to the real world!

Jamil Wilson has completed his year-long grant in Papua New Guinea — and the impact speaks for itself. Focusing on marine science education and community engagement in coastal regions, Jamil worked alongside local students, educators, and partners to bring hands-on learning experiences that connect science to the real world.

In coordination with the U.S. Embassy in Port Moresby, his project helped strengthen educational partnerships and people-to-people connections between the United States and Papua New Guinea.

Programs like Fulbright and National Geographic matter because they invest in people. They create space for collaboration, amplify local voices, and open doors for students and communities who are often left out of global conversations in science and education.

Jamil's experience shows that the most meaningful science doesn't happen in isolation — it happens in community.

The United States, as a Pacific Nation, is proud to stand with Papua New Guinea and Pacific partners at the Melanesian Ocean Summit. U.S. Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Andy Covington addressed the summit on Thursday May 14, outlining how the United States works with Pacific partners to prevent illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing by advancing maritime monitoring and surveillance, to increase compliance with international law.

Billions of dollars in revenue are taken from Pacific island countries through IUU fishing each year. The security of our shared ocean resources is fundamental to our collective prosperity.

This exciting opportunity invites Pacific-based filmmakers, production teams, and affiliated Pacific broadcast teams to develop and produce original scripted short films grounded in authentic Pacific storytelling.

This initiative follows the momentum of the 2026 Young Pacific Leaders Digital Landscape Workshop and reflects continued investment in Pacific storytelling and creative industries.

The U.S. government is expanding our unexploded ordinance (UXO) removal programs to include East New Britain Province!

Last Thursday, Governor Michael Marum of East New Britain Province (ENB) and William Hunter of The HALO Trust signed a Memorandum of Agreement to include ENB under the $11.5 million-dollar grant from the U.S. government to mitigate WWII UXO.

The ongoing project already includes Oro Province and the Autonomous Region of Bougainville.

The UXO removal is not only a mitigation of risk from the past, but this agreement is also an investment in the future.

With this grant, The HALO Trust will teach UXO risk safety in schools and community facilities and will employ and train people from ENB, to include delivering explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) training to the PNG Defence Force EOD and the Royal PNG Constabulary.
