We hope you find inspiration in this story…

“One of the major highlights of my former firm Gore Accountants & Business Advisors (GABA) was the fact that we took from Deloitte the audit and tax agency work for Daewoo Engineering & Construction that built the PNG LNG Plant site. My team and I had the opportunity of walking around and inspecting the LNG Plant whilst it was constructed. Daewoos Group auditors at that time were PwC. Instead of moving from Deloitte to PwC, they came to GABA. We reported our audit to PwC Korea. They were our client from 2011 till 2014 when the construction work concluded and production commenced. Since then Billions of USD exports earning have been generated and after the borrowings are repaid, we expect billions of USD to reach PNG starting 2023 or 2024. That will lead to a humongous socio-economic transformation of PNG. Who says we can’t compete with the best and win! ❤️🇵🇬

I was pleased to lead a capable GABA team to achieve this milestone.

I hope this inspires some of you professionals and entrepreneurs.”

Most of the accountants, tax agents and auditors in PNG do not meet international standards, according to the Certified Practicing Accountants of Papua New Guinea (CPAPNG). The CPAPNG will do a qualitative review of all its practitioners in the coming months.

‘There is no review done on them in terms of the application of the standards and the requirement of being an auditor,’ reportedly said Richard Kuna, CPAPNG Chairman. ‘Once they go through the qualitative review, their skill levels will be elevated and they will be forced to train their staff to the standard required.’ (Post-Courier)

TIP FOR ASPIRING TECHNICAL ACCOUNTANTS
By James Gore, Principal

I solve complex accounting issues arising from complex business and financial transactions by applying the basic accounting principles:
- Double Book Entry - i.e. for every debit there is a corresponding credit and vice versa
- Knowing the fundamentals of what is an Asset, Liability, Income and Expense.

The best Technincal Accountants provide simple solution for complex issues. They don’t make complex issues become more complex!

That is why I am regarded as one of PNG’s Top Technical Accountants - whether expat or national.
