IPA EASTER WEEKEND OFFICE CLOSURE

The Investment Promotion Authority of Papua New Guinea wishes to advise its valued clients, stakeholders and the general public that its Regional Offices and Headquarters in Port Moresby will be closed for business on Friday 3rd April 2026 and Monday 6th April 2026.
These are Government declared public holidays to observe the Easter season.
We will reopen for normal business on Tuesday 7th April 2026.
We thank you for your usual understanding and wish you and your families a meaningful and blessed Easter weekend.

RESERVED ACTIVITIES LIST – CALL FOR PUBLIC COMMENTS

Under the Investment Promotion Act 1992 (IP Act), the Investment Promotion Authority (IPA) is required to review the list of economic activities reserved for citizen investment. This list is known as the Reserved Activities List (RAL). Reviews of the RAL must be undertaken at least every three years in accordance with the IP Act. The IP Act provides criteria that the IPA must consider in the review.

Please note that the RAL is different from the Reserved Occupations List (ROL) which limits the issuance of work permits for non-citizen workers. The ROL comes under the purview of the Department of Labour and Industrial Relations.

IPA has released a consultation paper with a proposed RAL. The paper outlines IPA’s rationale for the inclusion of new activities, retention and consolidation of existing activities, and the removal of other activities. The consultation paper is available on the IPA website at www.ipa.gov.pg

IPA welcomes public comments on the proposed revisions to the list. Please note that suggested additional activities under the current review may be considered in future reviews, in accordance with the IP Act criteria.

Papua New Guinea Registry Services Investors willing to explore business opportunities in Papua New Guinea have available to them numerous incentives to assist in their investment decision-making. The government has a range of direct and indirect taxation incentives based incentives for large and small proposals. 

PNG Investment Promotion Authority is in Buka, AROB to meet cocoa farmers, local chocolatiers and ice cream producers. We were visited by UK chocolatiers at our booth who are in AROB to suss out local suppliers.

IPA joined the Port Moresby corporate organisations and schools today in the walk against corruption. IPA's participation is a testimony on its value of Integrity as a foundation of the Organisation. IPA sponsored Hagara Primary School and Gerehu Secondary School in the walk.

Dear valued clients and stakeholders.

Due to the constant power outage in POM, the IPA head office is currently operating with very limited technical and communication means. Our phone lines, servers and computers have been affected but we have managed to bring in resources to keep services flowing at our counters. However, the registry system is fully functioning and clients are able to lodge their business applications online with no issues. The front counters at the IPA office will be closed as well today given the current situation. Front Counters will reopen on Monday.
The situation is beyond our control and IPA sincerely apologizes for the inconveniences this may cause.
