“COVID-19 is a very serious issue. We’re now approaching more than two thousand (COVID-19) cases and more than 20 people have died in Papua New Guinea. More than half of these deaths have occurred in the last couple of weeks, and we’re going to see more deaths in the very near future. We should all do our very best to slow it (transmission) as much as possible, because if the number of new infections is such that there are too many sick people for our health system to cope with: the health system will collapse. It will literally collapse,” says Professor Glen Mola, Head of Reproductive Health and Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Papua New Guinea and Port Moresby General Hospital.
