The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will be providing at least 200 thousand employment opportunities nationwide through its “Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers” (TUPAD) program starting tomorrow, June 1.

In a radio interview, newly appointed DOLE Secretary Francis N. Tolentino announced that the Department will officially deploy TUPAD workers to assist in the implementation of the Department of Education (DepEd) “Brigada Eskwela.”

Davao City – A bus company operating in Davao City has demonstrated strong commitment to labor compliance and workplace safety after no violations found on both General Labor Standards (GLS) and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) during the routine inspection conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment XI – Davao City Field Office (DOLE XI – DCFO).

The inspection, conducted on April 30, 2026, was carried out by Mr. Ace B. Agdamag, Labor Inspector of DOLE XI-DCFO, as part of the government’s continuing effort to ensure that establishments strictly comply with labor laws, promote safe working conditions, and protect workers’ welfare especially in high-risk industries such as public transportation.

During the site inspection, thorough review of records, and interviewed employees, the company was found fully compliant with General Labor Standard, including proper implementation of wages, benefits, and employment conditions. On the Occupation Safety and Health side, the company likewise met required safety protocols designed to protect both employees and the commuting public.

Davao City – For veteran PUJ driver Romeo O. Dela Cruz, every day on the road is more than simply earning a living—it is about serving people.

As fuel prices continue to affect public utility vehicle drivers, programs like the TUPAD Tuloy Pasada of Department of Labor and Employment XI – Davao City Field Office have become an important source of support for drivers struggling to sustain their daily income while continuing to serve commuters.

Among the beneficiaries of the program was Romeo, a longtime PUJ driver servicing the SM Ecoland route in Davao City. Through the program, he was given the opportunity not only to receive temporary cash-for-work assistance, but also to provide Libreng Sakay services for job seekers and commuters during the Labor Day Job Fair activities.

For Romeo, the experience carried a deeper meaning. “Dako ang akong garbo nga nahimo kong kabahin niining Libreng Sakay,” Romeo shared. “Gusto gyud nako nga makaserbisyo sa komunidad, ilabi na sa mga aplikante nga nangita og trabaho.”

(I take great pride in being part of this Libreng Sakay. I really wanted to serve the community, especially the applicants looking for work.)

DAVAO CITY — Continuing its aggressive push to cushion the transport sector from economic strain, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XI - Davao City Field Office (DCFO), in strong convergence with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), officially launched the second batch of the "TUPAD Tuloy Pasada" initiative on May 15, 2026, at the People’s Park.

Another 500 Public Utility Jeepney (PUJ) drivers signed their emergency employment contracts, marking the start of a 15-day "Libreng Sakay" (Free Ride) program running from May 15 to May 29, 2026.

Under this unique implementation of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program, the driver-beneficiaries will ply their usual routes providing free transportation to local commuters. In return, DOLE guarantees them the prevailing regional minimum wage for the 15-day duration, offering critical economic relief to the drivers while easing the daily transport expenses of thousands of Davaoeños.

The DILP aims to provide livelihood assistance and capacity-building opportunities to vulnerable and disadvantaged workers, farmers, fisherfolk, individuals, women and youth, persons with disabilities (PWDs), Indigenous Peoples, senior citizens, and other individuals, helping them establish or enhance sustainable livelihood projects that promote self-reliance and improved quality of life.

Through accessible, transparent, and client-centered processes, beneficiaries are guided in availing livelihood support that encourages productivity, empowerment, and inclusive economic growth.
