In light of recent situation in the Middle East and their potential impact on global markets, the Department of Trade and Industry Region 1 (DTI R1) assures the public that the prices of basic necessities and prime commodities (BNPCs) within the Ilocos Region remain stable. Recent monitoring shows sufficient inventory at major retailers, with compliance to Suggested Retail Prices (SRPs) ensuring affordability.

DTI Region I advises against panic buying, as supply chains are fully operational. Regional Director Merlie D. Membrere highlights the importance of vigilance and coordination in maintaining consumer confidence. “Our continuous price and supply monitoring, coupled with close coordination with retailers and local government units, ensures that basic goods remain available and fairly priced for the public,” RD Membrere said.

DTI Region I continues to monitor markets and work with stakeholders to ensure fair practices and availability of essentials. Consumers should report any unfair trade practices to the nearest DTI office. The department is committed to a fair and stable marketplace in the Ilocos Region. 🇵🇭

On March 4, 2026, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Regional Office 1, together with the DTI La Union Provincial Office, held a coordination meeting with SM City La Union.

The meeting focused on strengthening the partnership between DTI and SM Prime Holdings Inc. (SMPH) for the upcoming Business Continuity Plan (BCP) Training and Workshop, aimed at equipping businesses with strategies to remain resilient and sustainable in times of disruption.

The meeting was graced by representatives SM La Union headed by Ms. Michelle Charlene B. Chua, and DTI Region 1 headed by OIC PD Victoria A. Ordono.
