CULTURAL MAPPING PROJECT - MOA SIGNING

The signing of a pivotal Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) among the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples that facilitated the activity, the Municipal Government of Rosario, Agusan del Sur as project implementor, and the Indigenous Peoples (IP) Community of Rosario as target beneficiary of the project. This tripartite agreement marks a significant step forward for our Cultural Mapping Project, which aims to highlight and preserve the rich Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices (IKSP) of our local community.

Through this project, we seek to create an integrated picture of our cultural heritage—capturing its significance, character, and the unique workings of our community. By doing so, we aim to empower our residents to recognize, celebrate, and support the cultural diversity that enriches our locality.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in this meaningful collaboration! Together, we are building a future that respects and uplifts our diverse cultural identities.

TOURISM STATISTICS COACHING

Mabuhay! A productive day during the orientation and coaching session on tourism statistics reporting. Representatives from various municipalities across the province, including the Municipal Tourism, Culture and Arts Office of Rosario, Agusan del Sur, gathered to deepen their understanding of the essential processes involved in data collection, consolidation and submission of monthly tourist arrival data.

Led by the skilled training personnel from the Department of Tourism (DOT) Caraga, participants engaged in hands-on workshops that highlighted the significance of the use of the correct forms and timely monthly report submissions. This training not only emphasized accuracy in reporting but also underscored the vital role that data plays in shaping our tourism strategies and policies.

Together, we are committed to enhancing our province's tourism sector, ensuring that we have the right tools and knowledge to make informed decisions and pave the way for better insights and growth in our tourism sector!

The Barangay Local Government Unit of Novele, Rosario, Agusan del Sur led by Hon. Manolito Payot and the IP Community of Novele led by Datu Conrado "Palibo" Perez, have conducted their annual vow in performing the Paghinang-hinang or Panawagtawag at Sitio Palibu, Brgy. Novele, Rosario, Agusan del Sur. The rite aims to pay homage to their ancestors and to summon and/or appease the familiar and unfamiliar spirits in the environment for protection and prosperity in the community.

In support to the local cultural conservation and promotion, the community event was graced by the Tourism Officer of Rosario, Agusan del Sur, Mr. Eliezer G. Montaos, along with the Cultural Mappers of the Municipal Tourism, Culture and Arts Office. This important cultural event witnessed by the cultural mappers, had enlightened and provided first-hand experience and understanding of the cultural workers about the Manobo culture. The group also witnessed the rites in the acceptance of members of the IP Community.

Kudos to BLGU Novele and CADT 142 for keeping these practices and tradition alive. Mabuhay!

BARRIER-FREE TOURISM SEMINAR

All tourism businesses and institutions should aim to be universally accessible and create barrier-free tourism. This means ensuring tourist destinations, products and services are accessible to all people, regardless of their physical limitations, disabilities or age.

Last August 19-20, 2024, the Municipal Tourism, Culture and Arts Office of Rosario along with the personnel of the CN Inland Resort OPC have attended and completed the Barrier-Free Tourism Seminar at the Provincial Learning Center, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur which was delivered by the resource speaker, Mr. Rizalio R. Sanchez.

Our gratitude to the Department of Tourism - Caraga Region headed by Regional Director Ivonnie B. Dumadag and Provincial Tourism Office - Agusan del Sur headed by Ms. Dannah Rufalyn M. Buquir, for initiating such activities for the development of tourism and capability enhancement of tourism workers in the Province.
