In recognition of the invaluable contributions of educators in shaping generations and building communities, Mayor Lovely Yu-Castro has issued Executive Order No. 2026-0052, Series of 2026, declaring the cancellation of classes in all levels in all public and private schools in the Municipality of Alangalang, Leyte, and the suspension of work for teaching and non-teaching personnel of schools within its jurisdiction on Monday, October 5, 2026, in commemoration of World Teachers’ Day.

This will provide teachers and school personnel an opportunity to pause from their daily responsibilities and be recognized for the dedication, patience, and commitment they bring to the education of Alangalang’s learners.

Beyond the classrooms, their work continues to shape dreams, inspire possibilities, and strengthen the future of the community.

To every teacher who teaches with purpose and serves with heart, thank you for helping build the Alangalang we aspire to become.

𝐏𝐔𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐂 𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓! 📣

The Local Government Unit of Alangalang, in partnership with the Land Transportation Office (LTO), will spearhead a two-day Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) on October 1–2, 2026, at the Municipal Covered Court, Alangalang, Leyte.

The activity aims to provide interested participants with essential knowledge on road safety, traffic rules and regulations, and responsible driving, as part of the LGU’s continuing efforts to promote safer roads and responsible motorists in the municipality.

Interested participants are encouraged to visit the Alangalang Traffic Enforcement and Management Office (ATEMO) for registration and further details.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: Mayor Lovely Yu-Castro was among the few selected Local Chief Executives from across the country invited to participate in the inaugural TSINELAS LEADERSHIP: The JMRF Good Governance Summit organized by the Jesse M. Robredo Foundation (JMRF) last September 24-25, 2026 in Sequoia Manila Bay, Metro Manila.

The two-day summit brought together more than 80 local government leaders for discussions on transparency and accountability, innovative local governance, and people-centered public service.

Among the distinguished speakers were Senator Bam Aquino, who shared insights on low-cost, high-impact innovations for transparent and accountable governance, and Senator Kiko Pangilinan, who emphasized turning public service commitments into lasting impact. The summit also featured local leaders including Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, Baguio City Mayor Benjie Magalong, Romblon Governor Trina Firmalo-Fabic, Isabela City Mayor Sitti Djalia Hataman, and Iloilo Governor Arthur“Toto Defensor, Jr.

Mayor Yu-Castro’s participation provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and gain insights that can further strengthen LGU Alangalang’s continuing commitment to transparent, responsive, and people-centered governance – anchored on matino, mahusay, at may pusong serbisyo publiko.

As another workweek begins, the LGU Alangalang remains committed to working together for a more progressive, responsive, and people-centered municipality.

The Local Government Unit of Alangalang informs the general public that work in all municipal offices is suspended today, September 28, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, pursuant to Executive Order No. 2026-0049, Series of 2026, adopting and implementing Memorandum Circular No. 136 dated September 16, 2026, in observance of the 34th National Family Week.

Please be advised that offices and personnel tasked with the delivery of basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other vital services shall continue to operate and provide necessary assistance to the public.

We encourage everyone to take this opportunity to spend meaningful time with their families as we celebrate National Family Week.

The Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) of LGU Alangalang, through our PDAOfficer Sherly Relevo, together with dedicated LGU staff, conducted a random release of wheelchairs and crutches to Alangalanganon in need of assistive devices.

This initiative is part of the LGU’s continuing commitment to provide meaningful support to persons with disabilities and individuals who require assistance with mobility.

Under the leadership of Mayor Lovely Yu, LGU Alangalang continues to bring services closer to the people - promoting inclusivity, accessibility, dignity, and compassionate public service for every Alangalanganon.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒: The Local Government Unit of Alangalang conducted the Joint 3rd Quarterly Meeting of the Municipal Ecological Solid Waste Management Board (MESWMB), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC), Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC), Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC), and Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (MTF-ELCAC) yesterday at the ABC Hall, LGU Grounds.

The meeting brought together concerned department heads, partner agencies, and council members to discuss key updates, assess ongoing programs, and strengthen inter-agency coordination on environmental management, disaster preparedness and response, peace and order, and anti-drug initiatives in the municipality.

The joint meeting underscores the LGU Alangalang’s continuing commitment to a safe, resilient, peaceful, and environmentally responsible community, through coordinated planning, monitoring, and implementation of local government programs and policies.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: Mayor Lovely Yu-Castro graced the awarding of the Seed Capital Fund to SLP Program Participants, held yesterday at the Barangay Binongtoan Covered Court, in an effort to support families in establishing or strengthening their livelihood activities.

The activity was spearheaded by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), with the participation of Mr. Aljen Toledo, RAgr. of the Office of the Municipal Agriculture, who conducted a practical lecture on hog raising to equip the beneficiaries with basic knowledge and proper practices in swine production.
