On April 8, 2025, the DTI-Northern Samar Provincial Office through its Negosyo Center Allen conducted a productive 𝓞𝓻𝓲𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷 𝓸𝓷 𝓔𝓪𝓼𝓮 𝓸𝓯 𝓟𝓪𝔂𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓣𝓪𝔁𝓮𝓼 at MAO Building, Sabang Zone II, Allen, Northern Samar.

The activity was participated by 20 micro-entrepreneurs from the municipality.

Resource persons from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) - Catarman, Ms. Mary Mae Rodina Virtudes and Ms. Angelica Obrero provided a clear discussion on registration guidelines and addressed concerns regarding tax compliance for MSMEs.

In 2022, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)- Northern Samar Provincial Office partnered with the Balicuatro College of Arts and Trades (BCAT-TESDA) to launch the Shared Service Facility (SSF) on Food Processing and Packaging. This initiative provides students and small businesses with access to new technologies, equipment, and tools to improve food production quality, reduce costs, and enhance market access.

In its first year, the SSF trained 204 students and supported 68 micro-entrepreneurs, including home-based mothers and small business owners, providing them with equipment to improve product quality and increase production. The facility also helped expand market reach without the need for significant capital investment.

As the SSF continues to support local businesses, it is expected to drive innovation and sustainable development in the region’s food processing industry.
