The Municipality of Anilao, Iloilo takes pride in the recognition of Mayor Ma. Teresa “Matet” F. Debuque as one of the Mayor-Best Practice Presenters on Financial and Fiscal Management during the LMP Visayan Cluster Conference held at Royce Hotel, Clark, Pampanga.

The recognition provided a platform for Mayor Debuque to share Anilao’s experiences and practices in fiscal administration and local governance with fellow local leaders from across the Visayas.
Her participation reflects Anilao’s continuing commitment to sound financial management, responsible stewardship of public resources, transparency, accountability, and responsive governance—values that strengthen public trust and help build a more capable and progressive local government.

From Anilao to the national stage, excellence in local governance continues to speak for itself.

The 27th Piyesta sa Kakahuyan was held on September 19, 2026, in Brgy. Balabag, Anilao, Iloilo, through the Iloilo Provincial Government’s PGENRO, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Anilao, headed by Mayor Matet F. Debuque and Vice Mayor Lyka Joy D. Gelle, with the presence of Vice Governor Nathalie Ann F. Debuque and PGENRO Head Atty. Cesar Emmanuel Buyco.

In support of “Tanum Iloilo: Towards a Forest Province,” the activity brought together government employees, partners, and community members for a tree-growing and clean-up activity promoting environmental protection and stronger, more resilient communities. Jackfruit seedlings were planted along contour lines using the A-frame technique to help minimize soil erosion and improve rainwater retention.

LGU Anilao extends its appreciation to the Iloilo Provincial Government, PGENRO, partners, and participants for their support. Special thanks to Brgy. Captain of Balabag, Venancio Pagdato and Brgy. Kagawads, Brgy. Tanods and functionaries, for their active support and hands-on involvement in preparing the site and venue for the tree-planting activity, also to Ma’am Norlyn Montaño, Municipal Agriculturist, MENRO Designate Ma’am Emee Grace Bragancia and the employees and staffs of the LGU Anilao for preparing the planting site and helping organize the activity.

Together, we continue to grow a greener, safer, and more resilient Anilao. 🌱🌳

The Local Government Unit of Anilao, under the leadership of Mayor Ma. Teresa “Matet” F. Debuque, together with Vice Mayor Lyka Joy D. Gelle, turned over two motorcycles to the Anilao Municipal Police Station (PNP Anilao) to support and strengthen its Ronda Patrol operations.

The additional patrol vehicles will enhance police mobility and visibility, helping our law enforcement personnel respond more efficiently to concerns and maintain peace and order throughout the municipality.

The LGU Anilao continues to work alongside the PNP in promoting a safer, more secure, and peaceful Anilao for all Anilaonons.

With heartfelt gratitude, we thank our US Peace Corps Volunteer, Anya Kirschner, for her meaningful two years of service in the Municipality of Anilao.

During her time with us, Anya dedicated herself to strengthening our fisheries and coastal resource management initiatives. Through her commitment and passion, she helped make valuable projects possible, including the training and certification of two local SCUBA divers and the procurement of SCUBA diving equipment that will continue to support our municipality’s coastal and marine activities.

More than the projects and equipment she helped bring to Anilao, we are grateful for the knowledge she shared, the partnerships she built, and the inspiration she left among our people and our fisheries stakeholders.

Your service has made a lasting contribution to our efforts to protect and sustainably manage our coastal and marine resources. 🌊🐠

Thank you, Anya, for being part of Anilao’s journey. Your presence may be moving on, but the impact of your service will continue to live on in our community and in the waters we are committed to protecting.

The Municipality of Anilao proudly joined the grand opening of the Iloilo Fourth Congressional District Sports Association (IFCDSA) Meet 2026 held on September 12 at the Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology – Dumangas Campus.

The Anilao delegation, composed of dedicated athletes, coaches, and supporters, participated in the opening parade, proudly carrying the colors and representing the municipality with pride and enthusiasm.

With the vibrant parade, the spirit of the entrance of the torch of friendship, and the ceremonial lighting of the urn, the occasion reflected the shared values that brought everyone together—camaraderie, discipline, and excellence through sports. Most noteworthy, the opening ceremony was more than the beginning of a sporting event; it was a celebration of unity, friendship, sportsmanship, and the shared pursuit of excellence.
