On 06 September 1901, the Philippine Commission established the Department of Commerce (and Police). BARAS, 29 May 2026 | DTI Rizal through Negosyo Center Baras, Rizal in collaboration with the Budget and Licensing Office of LGU Baras, hosted an MSME Development Seminar together with an onsite assistance activity for the loan programs of Small Business Corporation (SB Corp) at the New Baras Public Market, participated in by 50 market vendors.
During the seminar, Ms. Marlene De Luna, STIDS of DTI Rizal, oriented participants on the various initiatives, programs, and services of DTI that support business growth, resilience, and competitiveness. She also emphasized the importance of financial readiness, responsible entrepreneurship, and proper business planning in helping MSMEs adapt and thrive in the evolving market environment.
Mr. Lan Doringo, P3 CI Monitoring Staff of SB Corporation, provided onsite assistance to entrepreneurs applying for SB Corp loan programs. He directly guided MSMEs on available financing opportunities, documentary requirements, and the step-by-step application process, making government financial assistance more accessible and convenient for local entrepreneurs seeking to strengthen and grow their businesses.
In support of local entrepreneurs and MSMEs, DTI Rizal and LGU Baras continue to empower the local business community by bringing government programs and financial opportunities closer to the people.

LUCENA CITY, 29 May 2026 | DTI Rizal, headed by OIC-PD Sharon F. Dioco, held a strategic meeting with PCA Regional Manager Bibiano C. Concibido Jr. to strengthen support for local coconut-based enterprises.
A key highlight of the day was the official registration and profiling of MSMEs utilizing coconut as their primary ingredient and raw material. This convergence ensures targeted assistance under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP).
Through this partnership, both agencies commit to providing shared facilities, training, market matching and market access, transforming raw coconut into high-value products to drive sustainable economic growth for Rizal's entrepreneurs.

BARAS, 28 May 2026 | DTI Rizal in partnership with Baras BJMP, successfully conducted the second batch of the Start Your Own Business (SYOB) Program for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).
The session was facilitated by Ms. Marlene De Luna, STIDS DTI Rizal, with the assistance of Business Counselor Adel Canonigo. Discussions centered on the fundamentals of establishing and managing a business, including identifying opportunities, developing financial awareness, and cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset. Participants were also introduced to the different programs and services of DTI designed to support aspiring entrepreneurs in starting, improving, and sustaining their livelihood ventures.

TAYTAY, 26 May 2026 | The Tailored Fit for Success: BMBE & Financing Forum for the Garments Industry was successfully conducted on May 26, 2026 at the Smile Taytay IT Training Center in partnership with LGU Taytay and LEDIPO office
The forum gathered members of the local garments industry to discuss the Barangay Micro Business Enterprise (BMBE) program, financing opportunities, and upcoming industry-related initiatives.
Resource speakers from DTI Rizal, Negosyo Center Taytay TIDA-NC John Francis Sta. Rita and Small Business Corporation Rizal Lan Doringo provided discussions on BMBE registration, tax incentives, and available funding programs to help support and strengthen MSMEs in the garments sector.
The activity aimed to equip garment entrepreneurs with knowledge on business formalization and access to financing while connecting them to government programs and future industry development initiatives.

MUNTINLUPA CITY, 28 May 2026 | The Shop Taytay: Southie Edition officially kicked off yesterday at Festival Mall’s UGF East Hall, bringing Taytay’s famous, top-tier tiangge fashion, great food, and unique local finds straight to the Southie community.
Organized by Shop Taytay Bea Alvarez, Jill Jay Aquino, Michelle Shaik, and Donna Santiago, the event opened with welcoming remarks from the four organizers themselves, setting a warm and energetic tone for the days ahead.
This exciting bazaar was made possible through the collaboration of co-presenters Smile Taytay, the DTI Rizal Provincial Office, South Snippets, and Festival Mall.
Attendees heard powerful, inspiring messages focused on supporting local entrepreneurs, starting with Ms. Sharon F. Dioco, the OIC Provincial Director of DTI Rizal, followed by event sponsor Enrico Sy of Gold Fortune Textile Philippines. A wonderful highlight of the launch was an impromptu interview with Ms. Onie De Leon, who graciously attended to represent her son, Taytay Mayor Allan Martine S. De Leon. During the chat, Ms. Onie heartfeltly shared her own experience as a citizen of Taytay, reflecting on how she has witnessed firsthand the growth of their wonderful garments business. She spoke beautifully about how the industry has uplifted countless Taytayeño families and truly woven itself into the very town culture.
