May 12, 2026 – Culasi, Antique – The Provincial Government of Antique, through the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (OPSWDO), extended assistance to families in Brgy. Batbatan, Culasi, who were affected by a recent sea accident.

The relief package provided to the affected families includes six (6) sacks of rice (25 kg per sack), hygiene kits, canned goods, and coffee, ensuring immediate support for their basic needs. PSWDO personnel personally delivered the items to the beneficiaries, reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment to the welfare and safety of its constituents.

The OPSWDO remains ready to provide aid and support to those in need.

Under the administration of Paolo S. Javier, the Provincial Government of Antique continues to strengthen and advance Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) services in the province. In response to the request for capacity-building support, the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (OPSWDO), headed by Lazaro G. Petinglay, conducted a Capacity Training for 44 Child Development Teachers (CDTs) and Child Development Workers (CDWs) from Tobias Fornier on May 13–14, 2026 at the Parish Formation Center, Poblacion Norte, Tobias Fornier, Antique.

The activity was conducted in preparation for the opening of classes and focused on strengthening the participants’ knowledge and skills in delivering quality ECCD services. Discussions on the National Early Learning Curriculum (NELC) and the use of assessment tools in early childhood care were facilitated by Carla Jee Ann B. Cabigunda, Social Welfare Officer.

The OPSWDO also acknowledged the prioritization and support of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) and the Local Government Unit of Tobias Fornier under the leadership of Mayor Ernesto Tajanlangit III in making the activity possible and ensuring continued support for ECCD programs and services in the municipality.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) conducted an Orientation and Demonstration on the Proper Use of Fire Extinguishers for the personnel of the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (OPSWDO). The activity aimed to enhance the employees’ awareness, preparedness, and ability to respond to possible fire incidents in the workplace.

During the orientation, PDRRMO representatives discussed the different types of fire extinguishers, their proper uses, and the basic fire safety measures to observe during emergencies. Participants also took part in a live demonstration and hands-on activity on the correct use of fire extinguishers using the PASS method — Pull, Aim, Squeeze, and Sweep.

The activity highlighted the importance of workplace safety, disaster preparedness, and quick response during fire emergencies. Through the training, OPSWDO personnel gained practical knowledge and skills that can help protect lives and government property in case of fire incidents.

The OPSWDO also expressed its gratitude to the PDRRMO for sharing their expertise and for continuously supporting programs that promote safety, preparedness, and disaster resilience among government employees.

The regular monthly meeting of the Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines was successfully conducted today, May 12, 2026, at the PSCB Center, Brgy. 8, San Jose de Buenavista, Antique.

The meeting gathered officers and members of the federation to discuss important matters, updates, and initiatives concerning the welfare and development of senior citizens across the province.

The Provincial Federation of Child Development Workers of Antique convened for its 2nd Quarter Meeting today, May 11, 2026, at the PSCB Center, Brgy. 8, San Jose, Antique.

The meeting focused on the preparations for the upcoming Child Development Teachers’/Workers’ Congress, which will be held in June 2026 in the Municipality of Patnongon. Discussions included the planned activities, program flow, committee assignments, registration updates, and other important preparations to ensure the successful conduct of the event.

The Provincial Government of Antique, through the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (OPSWDO), provided relief assistance to Ms. Emilia Amar Absalon, 57 years old, a resident of Barangay Lumbuyan, Barbaza.

The family, composed of five (5) members, received five (5) kilos of rice, assorted canned goods, coffee, and one (1) family pack as immediate relief assistance following a fire incident that occurred on April 28, 2026, which reportedly destroyed their house.

According to the client, they are currently processing the necessary documents to avail of financial assistance from the Provincial Government of Antique in addition to the relief assistance already extended.

The Provincial Government continues to provide support and assistance to families affected by emergencies and disasters in the province.

The assessment of 15 Child Development Centers and 18 Child Development Workers in the Municipality of Valderrama was successfully conducted on May 6–7, 2026.

The activity was carried out in accordance with the standards set by the Early Childhood Care and Development Council to ensure the quality delivery of early childhood care and development services in the municipality.

Following the assessment, the evaluators conducted an exit conference with Atty. Jocelyn L. Posadas. During the conference, the evaluators commended the collective efforts and strong support of the Local Government Unit of Valderrama, the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), and the Barangay Councils of the different Barangays.

Recognition was likewise given to the unwavering support of the Provincial Government of Antique under the leadership of Paolo S. Javier and guidance of Dr. Lazaro G. Petinglay in advancing programs and services for early childhood care and development in the province.

DOLE PROJECT ANGEL TREE
Held at Bongbongan I-II, Hamtic, Antique

The Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (OPSWDO) headed by Dr. Lazaro G. Petinglay and serving as the Office Secretariat of the Provincial Council for the Protection of Children, chaired by Hon. Governor Paolo Javier, participated in the implementation of the DOLE Project Angel Tree Program in celebration of the 124th Labor Day, held at Barangay Bongbongan I–II, Hamtic, Antique, on May 1, 2026.

The activity featured an Information and Education Session, Gift-Giving Activity, and Medical Consultation, benefiting the identified child Laborers and its families.

OPSWDO Social Worker, Ms. Michelle Bartolo discussed the topic on the Rights of the Child and emphasized their protection and welfare during the Information and Education Session. Other relevant topics were also discussed to raise awareness and promote empowerment.

This initiatives reflects the continued commitment of OPSWDO, PCPC and its partner agencies in promoting the well-being and safeguarding the rights of every child.
