In today's Lapsus Calami— ANTIQUE NEW GOV’T CENTER - WHEN WILL IT BE COMPLETED?
THE UNFINISHED Antique New Government Center is fast becoming a monument not to progress, but to delay. The structure is already there, public money has already been poured into it, yet Antiqueños are still left asking: When will construction resume — and when will it finally be completed?
The provincial government owes the public a definite answer. If work has stalled because of funding problems, contractual disputes or changes in project plans, officials should explain these clearly. Silence will only encourage suspicions that na-pulitika ang proyekto meant to improve public service.
The old Provincial Capitol cannot be subjected to endless repair work while a supposedly modern government center remains unfinished. Daw balay nga ginpatindog pero ginpabay-an, wala gin tapos — public funds are exposed while the promised benefits remain beyond reach.
Bukot man “Cadiao New Government Center” ang ngaran kang infrastructure nga rian kung matapos kundi “Antique New Government Center.”
The present capitol administration does not have to love the project’s political history. It only has to recognize that the government center belongs neither to the former governor nor to any political camp. It belongs to the Antiqueños who paid for it.
Enough of allowing useful projects to gather dust simply because they were begun under another administration. Haslo!
Antiqueños deserve an efficient government center — not another government centerpiece of political delay.
Say mo, Inday Dodod?

Calami (𝘓𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯, 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘰𝘧 “𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘶𝘴”) - pen
“Lapsus Calami” (Slip of the pen) is the most audacious — at times irreverent — column in Panay News. Written with a dash of dry-wit humor in the Hiligaynon language, this daily smorgasbord of what’s hot and what’s not is known for its unflinching take on local and national issues.
