𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐃 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐔𝐄𝐒. More than 48 students from Sta. Filomena School of Arts and Trades and Sta. Filomena Elementary School recently participated a 10-day sports training program in Taekwondo and Table Tennis.

The training is part of the continuous implementation of the ANGRAD Program of the Local Government Unit of Calanasan, which was launched last August in Barangay Poblacion.

ANGRAD, or the Calanasan Athletes Nurtured to Grow, Rise, Achieve Dreams, and Development into Champions Program, aims to hone young athletes, instill discipline, and prepare them for greater opportunities in sports and beyond.

The Office of the Mayor – Local Youth Development Office, with the support of the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation, spearheaded the activity.

The program is set to commence in Lower Calanasan this November.

The Municipality of Calanasan recently culminated the Linggo ng Kabataan 2025 celebration, carrying the theme “Local Youth Actions for Sustainable Development Goals and Beyond,” at Barangay Poblacion.

The celebration highlighted various activities participated by students of Apayao National Industrial Agricultural High School (ANIAHS), including a team-building session, a tree-planting initiative, and an Information and Education Campaign focusing on the Kabataang Makabayan Campaign for a Progressive Calanasan.

The activity was spearheaded by Municipal Sangguniang Kabataan President Jess Lee Danggan, with the full support of the Office of the Mayor through the Local Youth Development Office. The Department of Education–Calanasan, Calanasan Fire Station, and Calanasan Police Station likewise extended their support to the successful conduct of the activity.

In celebration of the 2025 Linggo ng Kabataan (LNK) with the theme “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond,” the Local Government Unit of Calanasan, in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Apayao, is currently conducting an Information and Education Campaign (IEC) in various secondary schools across the municipality.

The IEC kicked off last Wednesday at the Sta. Filomena School of Arts and Trades (SFSAT), where students engaged in discussions on youth and local tourism development, mental health awareness and coping strategies, and digital citizenship and cyber safety. They were also oriented on leadership and active citizenship, fire safety, building compassionate leaders for inclusive communities, the Youth Internship and Jobseekers Assistance Act, and environmental protection and climate action. Additionally, they also received school supplies.

The activity is being led by MSKF President Jess Lee Danggan and the Office of the Mayor – Local Youth Development Office, with the assistance of the Philippine National Police – Calanasan Municipal Police Station, the Bureau of Fire Protection – Calanasan Fire Station, and the Barangay LGUs.

Linggo ng Kabataan is an annual celebration mandated by law,under Section 439 of the Local Government Code of 1991 and Section 30 of Republic Act No. 10742, to be observed in every barangay, municipality, city, and province. It typically coincides with International Youth Day on August 12. However, due to conflicting schedules of activities in the municipality, the local celebration has been moved to this week and is expected to conclude next week with its culmination program.

For the year 2025,the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of the Municipality of Calanasan, Province of Apayao, proudly upholds transparency and good governance through the continuous implementation of the SK Full Public Disclosure Policy Board. In line with this mandate, Mr. Alexander S. Bulusan,Youth Development Officer, diligently monitors the proper display and updating of relevant documents in accordance with existing laws and guidelines set by the National Youth Commission (NYC) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). These documents include the Comprehensive Barangay Youth Development Plan (CBYDP), Annual Barangay Youth Investment Program (ABYIP), Approved Budget, Purchase Requests, and the Statement of Cash in Bank. This initiative ensures that the youth and the general public remain informed and engaged in the implementation of SK programs, projects, and activities. The Municipality of Calanasan reaffirms its commitment to accountable and participatory youth governance.
