Malacañang Palace has declared September 11, 2026 a special non-working holiday in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. issued Proclamation No. 1389 declaring September 11, Friday, as a special non-working day, in lieu of September 13, which falls on a Sunday, to mark the 40th anniversary of the 1986 “Sipat” or the Mount Data Peace Accord.

To enable the people of Cordillera to fully participate in the occasion, the Regional Development Council – CAR, through its Chairperson, Apayao Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr., requested the date to be declared as a special day in the region.

The day commemorates the 1986 peace talks between the national government and the Cordillera Bodong Administration - Cordillera People's Liberation Army (CBA-CPLA) at the historic Mount Data Hotel in Bauko, Mountain Province.

The agreement paved the way for the signing of Executive Order 220 on July 15, 1987 for the creation of the Cordillera Administrative Region and the inclusion of provisions in the Constitution creating the CAR in preparation to its becoming an autonomous region.

July 15, 2026 Declared Special Non-Working Day in the Cordillera

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has declared Wednesday, July 15, 2026, a special non-working day throughout the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) in celebration of the region's 39th Founding Anniversary.

The declaration was made through Proclamation No. 1334, signed by Acting Executive Secretary Ralph Recto by the authority of the President.

According to the proclamation, the holiday is intended to give the people of the Cordillera region the opportunity to fully participate in and enjoy the anniversary celebration.

This year's month-long observance is being hosted by the Regional Development Council–Cordillera, through its Sectoral Committee on Economic Development, in partnership with the Province of Benguet. The celebration will culminate in the Cordillera Day Main Program on July 15, 2026, at the Benguet Sports Complex in La Trinidad, Benguet.

The 39th Founding Anniversary carries the theme: "Smart Cordillera: Enabling Local Enterprises through Digital Transformation and Accelerated Regional Autonomy."

ADVISORY | The Provincial Government of Apayao will return to the regular five-day workweek schedule effective June 15, 2026.

Under Memorandum Order No. 170, all employees and job order personnel shall observe office hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.

The order lifts the previously adopted four-day onsite work arrangement and reinstates the standard workweek schedule in provincial government offices.
