The Office of the Municipal Agriculturist–Arayat proudly congratulates Engr. Carlo T. Marcelo, Engineer III, for earning his certification as a Senior Test Engineer – Category F (Rice Machinery) under the DA–BAFE.

Engr. Marcelo is now authorized to test and evaluate all machinery under Category F and may also handle the easy level of other categories, as stated in DA DC No. 2, s. 2023.

This achievement enhances machinery testing standards and contributes to safer and more efficient mechanization for farmers in Arayat and throughout Central Luzon.

Patuloy ang Office of the Municipal Agriculturist – Arayat sa paghahatid ng siksik, liglig, umaapaw na mga programa at serbisyo para sa kalusugan, kaunlaran, at kapakanan ng ating mga magsasaka at komunidad. Narito ang kabuuan ng mga naging aktibidad ngayong linggo:

🌾 Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (ARV) para sa mga a*o at pusa – Isinagawa sa Barangay Mangga Cacutud bilang tugon sa kumpirmadong ka*o ng rabies upang maprotektahan ang komunidad.

🌾 Pamamahagi ng Vegetable Seedlings na suportado ng ating Butihing Mayor, Hon. Jeffrey M. Luriz at Sanguniang Bayan – Naipamahagi sa 30 barangay ng Arayat para magamit sa mga programa ng barangay gaya ng backyard gardening at iba pang proyektong pangkabuhayan.

🌾 Pagkolekta ng PRISM Data – Field monitoring sa ilalim ng PhilRice PRISM para sa mas tumpak at siyentipikong datos sa pananim.

🌾 Ika-apat na Linggo ng Farmers Field School – Climate Resilient Farm Business School (FFS-CRFBS) @ Barangay Telapayong – Tinalakay ang Palay Keycheck 2: Land Preparation.

🌾 Dumalo bilang Resource Speaker ang ating High Value Crop Coordinator, G. Raniel Andrei S. Elnar, sa Training on Value Adding of Lowland Vegetables and Marketing ng City Agriculture and Veterinary Office, CSFP.

🌾 RSBSA Registration ng mga Upland Farmers – Isinagawa sa Barangay Baliti para maisama ang mga magsasaka sa mga programang pang-agrikultura ng pamahalaan.

🌾 Pagbuo ng Rural Improvement Club (RIC) – Pormal na naitatag ang “United Women of Gatiawin RIC” sa Barangay Gatiawin, na ginabayan nina Hon. Elma Loria, Hon. Kap. Roy Magcalas, OPA Pampanga Staff, pinangunahan ni Ms. Editha V. Vega at Grace Basco at ng ating OMA team kasama sina Engr. John Roy Flores, Mr. Raniel Andrei Elnar na pinangunahan ni Engr. Rodel A. Lising.

🌾 Animal Outreach Program – Katuwang ang PAITA, PCC, CLSU, at National Dairy Association, isinagawa sa Barangay Matamo para sa pagpapalakas ng livestock development.

🌾 Tulong sa DSWD Payout – Nakatulong sa pamamahagi ng ayuda para sa 769 Farm Workers ng Arayat bilang suporta sa kanilang kabuhayan.

💚 Sa kabila ng mga hamon, patuloy ang dedikasyon ng Office of the Municipal Agriculturist upang mapangalagaan ang ating mga magsasaka, mapatatag ang food security, at maitaguyod ang mas masaganang agrikultura sa Bayan ng Arayat.

Inaanyayahan po namin kayong lahat na makiisa sa gaganaping FREE LEGAL SERVICES – LIBRENG KONSULTA at LIBRENG NOTARYO, sa pangunguna ng Pampanga State Univerisity School of Law at sa pakikipagtulungan ng Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Pampanga Chapter.

Bukod dito, dadalo rin po ang Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) upang magsagawa nang pag-iisyu ng National ID at magbigay ng kopya ng mga dokumento sa ilalim ng Civil Registration, nang sa gayon ay higit pang mapaglingkuran ang publiko.

🌾 Week 3 of 18: Farmers Field School – Climate Resilient Farm Business School (FFS–CRFBS) @ Brgy. Telapayong – Pasasalamat kay Ms. Agnes G. Punu, Principal ng Telapayong Elementary School, sa suporta sa aktibidad.
Mga tinalakay:
✅ Technical Briefing: Proper Soil Sampling
✅ Keycheck 1: Variety and Seed Selection

⛰️ 2-Day participation ng ating Municipal Agriculturist, Engr. Rodel A. Lising at Ms. Angelyn Reyes sa Local Tourism Development Planning (LTDP) Workshop – Aktibong nakibahagi ang OMA sa pagbuo ng mga plano para sa ikauunlad ng lokal na turismo ng Arayat.

🕺 Zumba Session para sa mga empleyado ng Pamahalaang Bayan ng Arayat – Pinangunahan mismo ni Mayor Jeffrey Luriz at Mayora Ann Luriz bilang bahagi ng wellness at healthy lifestyle ng mga empleyado ng Munisipyo.

✅ Pagdalo ng ating Municipal Veterenarian, Dr. Alliza Faith Capati at Municipal Agriculturist, Engr. Rodel A. Lising sa 2nd Quarter Inter-Agency Task Force Meeting na isinagawa sa DA RFO III Training Hall, Brgy. Maimpis, CSFP – Tinalakay ang mga isyung may kaugnayan sa sektor ng agrikultura at inter-agency coordination.

🆘 Nakibahagi sa Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Information System Re-orientation Session sa DA RFO III – Layuning mapalakas ang kahandaan ng ating bayan sa mga sakunang may epekto sa agrikultura.

🤝 Pakikilahok ng ating Municipal Cooperative Development Officer (MCDO), Engr. John Roy S. Flores sa 3-Day Skills Enhancement Training for Cooperative Development Officers in Central Luzon, Module VII, sa Mansion Garden Hotel, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Subic Zambales – Para sa patuloy na pagpapalakas ng kapasidad ng ating MCDO at mga kooperatiba.

🐃 Paghahatid ng natitirang 8 heads ng caracows/heifers para sa mga benepisyaryo ng Arenas Grains Farmers Association, katuwang ang DA-PCC Staff, sa ilalim ng Carabao Herd Build-Up Project na pinondohan ni Sen. Cynthia Villar.

🌾 Sa patuloy na pagkilos at pakikilahok sa mga makabuluhang programa at aktibidad, sama-sama nating isinusulong ang mas masagana, mas malusog, at mas maunlad na Arayat!

BAYAD PINSALA PINAGKALOOB NG PCIC SA MGA MAGSASAKA NG ARAYAT!

Sa pangunguna ng Office of the Municipal Agriculturist – LGU Arayat ginanap ang pagkakaloob ng Philipine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) sa mga bayad pinsala na may halagang mahigit tatlo (3) Million Pesos sa 156 na magsasaka ng Bayan ng Arayat na naapektuhan ng Bagyong Crising, Emong at Habagat na ginanap noong August 06, 2025 sa PAGCOR Multipurpose Building, Municipal Ground, Barangay Plazang Luma, Bayan ng Arayat.

Ang nasabing aktibidad ay dinaluhan ng ating butihing Mayor, Hon. Jeffrey M. Luriz kasama ang ating Vice Mayor, Hon. Ramon M. Changcoco, at mga Sangguniang Bayan Members na sina Hon. D**g Alejandrino, Hon. Elmer Hipolito, Hon. Loi Changcoco at Hon. Edith Kabigting.

🙏 Maraming salamat sa Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) sa mga programa upang tulungan ang ating mga magsasaka. Maraming saalamat sa kasipagan ng mga staff ng Office of the Municipal Agriculturist - Arayat sa pangugnuna ng ating Municipal Agriculturist, Engr. Rodel A. Lising.

🌧️ Tuloy ang Serbisyo sa Kabila ng Masamang Panahon!

Sa kabila ng sunod-sunod na masamang panahon dulot ng mga Bagyong Crising, Dante, at Emong na nagpalakas sa Hanging Habagat (Southwest Monsoon), hindi tumigil ang Office of the Municipal Agriculturist – Arayat sa pagbibigay serbisyo sa ating mga magsasaka.

Kahit suspendido ang pa*ok sa klase at trabaho sa mga government offices, patuloy ang agarang pagtugon, aktibidad, at monitoring kaugnay sa sektor ng agrikultura, partikular na sa pinsalang dulot ng bagyo sa mga pananim.

Mga Gawaing Isinagawa:
🌾 Pag-iinspeksyon at pagberipika ng mga nasirang pananim sa iba't ibang barangay.
🌾 Pagtatala at pagsusumite ng consolidated crop damage report sa mga kinauukulang ahensya upang mas mabilis na makarating ang tulong.
🌾 Pagtanggap at pagtugon sa mga aplikasyon ng Crop Insurance Claims mula sa mga apektadong magsasaka.

Karagdagang Aktibidad:
🌾 Isinagawa rin noong Hulyo 25, 2025 ang buwanang pagpupulong ng Municipal Agricultural and Fisheries Council (MAFC) ng Arayat.
Sa nasabing pulong:
1) Nag-ulat ang mga Barangay AFC Chairpersons tungkol sa kasalukuyang kalagayan ng agrikultura sa kani-kanilang barangay.
2) Napag-usapan ang mga hakbang para sa recovery, tulong mula sa mga ahensya, at mga isyung pang-agrikultura na kailangang agarang tugunan.

“It requires from 10 to 12 years to breed a variety. You should set objectives and consult farmers if you really want a variety that would be helpful to the farmers,” [Hilario C. dela Cruz, retired plant breeder and father of 40kg technology, said].

Breeding rice is challenging; to succeed, it requires patience, commitment, and a deep understanding of your plant and of the farmers who are the intended users.

The first step in breeding a rice variety is selecting the characteristics that the market demands, such as drought tolerance. Modern procedures such as high-throughput phenotyping and molecular tagging are employed in selecting traits.

The final judgement will come from the farmers themselves who will plant the new varieties, hoping that the hard work of rice breeders for more than a decade will enhance the yield and improve our farmers’ lives.
