The third and final day of the training focused on integrating the participants' outputs and enhancing their capacity in community resilience planning. The remaining Focused Group Discussion (FGD) presentations were completed, giving each sector the opportunity to present the risks, existing resources, came up with prioritization of risks through simulation done during the assessment process. Participants also carried out the Participatory Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (PRVA) Workshop, where they assessed local hazards, identified vulnerabilities, and prioritized strategies to strengthen disaster preparedness and climate change adaptation. The program concluded with a discussion on the Municipal Resilience Plan (MRP), providing the Municipal Resilience Team (MResT) and Municipal Coordinating Team (MCT) with practical guidance in formulating a comprehensive, adaptive, and resilient municipal development plan.

The second day of the training strengthened participants' skills in community-based disaster risk assessment through discussions and hands-on activities. Participants conducted Risk Mapping by identifying hazards, vulnerabilities, and community resources during a walk-through of the four puroks of Barangay Central (Poblacion), then developed their respective risk maps. They also carried out Focused Group Discussion (FGD) simulations representing various community sectors to identify key issues and local capacities. The remaining FGD presentations, together with the Participatory Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (PRVA) Workshop and the introduction of the Municipal Resilience Plan (MRP), will continue on July 22.

Resilience begins with a shared vision πŸ’™

The successful conduct of the MResT ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING on the KALAHI-CIDSS Philippine Community Resilience Project (PCRP) marks a significant step in strengthening local partnerships and promoting community-driven, risk-informed, and climate-resilient development. By nurturing collaboration among stakeholders, the Municipality of Arteche continues to build the foundation for empowered communities that are better prepared to anticipate, adapt to, and recover from disasters.
