ATOK, BENGUET โ In a strong display of community synergy and disaster preparedness, a coordinated declogging and clean-up operation was successfully executed earlier today, June 26, 2026, within the municipal premises and along located sections of the Baguio-Bontoc Road in Barangay Paoay.
Prior to the commencement of the activity, Municipal Mayor Hon. Franklin L. Smith emphasized the importance of the initiative. He reiterated that the declogging of canals and the localized clean-up drive serve as vital, proactive measures to strengthen community preparedness. By ensuring unobstructed waterways, the municipality aims to mitigate the severe impacts of impending typhoons, the rainy season, and associated hazards like flash floods and landslides.
Furthermore, Mayor Smith highlighted that the drive directly supports ongoing environmental programs of the Local Government Unit of Atok under the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) with the support of Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).
This is a result of a strategic inter-agency meeting of the MDRRMC represented by the Municipal Mayor with several Municipal Offices, the DPWH-BSDEO, AMPS, Atok Fire Station, Barangay Paoay, all were duly represented.
The success of this comprehensive clean-up drive was made possible through the Bayanihan spirit of the public and private sectors. The Local Government Unit extends its deepest gratitude to the following participants who generously contributed their time, labor, and resources:
