PAO resolution rate 100% – Palace

THE Public Attorney's Office (PAO) obtained a 100 percent compliance and resolution rate on cases referred to it, a report by Malacañang's 8888 Citizens' Complaint Center said.

Complaint center head Director Bernadette Casinabe informed PAO chief Persida Rueda-Acosta about her office's high-performance rate in a letter, a copy of which was obtained by The Manila Times.

"Please be informed that there were 1,521 citizens' concerns referred to your office from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022. Of this number, 1,521 tickets were acted upon," Casinabe said.

"Your office has obtained a compliance rate of 100 percent on the 72-hour compliance period and 100 percent resolution rate on all referred concerns within this period," she added.

Malacañang's complaint center said the report was pursuant to a memorandum circular of the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Harmonization of National Government Performance, Monitoring and Information, and Reporting Systems or the guidelines on the grant of the Performance Based Bonus (PBB) for the fiscal year 2022.

"We appreciate your cooperation and hope for your assistance in ensuring that the concerns are acted upon as practicable and effect updates through your 8888 portal," Casinabe said in the same letter to Rueda-Acosta.

The Palace official said that she was looking forward to their continued partnership in the fight against red tape and corruption and the improvement in the effectiveness and efficiency of government service delivery, she added.

The PAO chief thanked government agencies including Malacañang's citizens' complaint center for attesting to the performance of her agency.

"Our PAO of today and since I assumed its top post more than 22 years ago is very different from the past because I make sure that all public lawyers are giving their full time and effort and sometimes even during wee hours just to attend to their clients, many of whom were in detention," Rueda-Acosta said.

She praised the "hardworking and dedicated" public lawyers, and said she dismissed from the service almost a dozen who were found negligent or had not provided the proper attention to their assigned clients.

Rueda-Acosta cited last year's survey conducted by the Social Weather Station which showed PAO having the highest trust and satisfaction rating among the justice sector, including the Supreme Court.

"In the survey, not only the PAO itself, but its public lawyers obtained the highest net trust rating among the seven justice system professions," she said.

Rueda-Acosta said she has a standing order to her public lawyers to waste no time in responding to letters, complaints and referrals and never be choosy and always attentive and courteous to their clients.⚡️✨☀️🙏🏻🦜🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
