PENRO Siquijor Plants 189 Jackfruit Trees in Biofencing Activity for World Environment Day and Philippine Eagle Week 2026 πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š

In a meaningful celebration of World Environment Day and Philippine Eagle Week 2026, personnel from the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Siquijor conducted a Biofencing activity along the boundary of the Mt. Bandilaan Forest Reserve facing Barangay Cantabon, Municipality of Siquijor.

The initiative involved planting a total of 189 jackfruit trees spanning 723 linear meters. The use of fruit trees aims to enhance food sources for local wildlife, while providing benefits to the community and helping preserve the area’s rich biodiversity.
Aside from the planting activity, PENRO Siquijor also distributed 311 free seedlings of jackfruit, marang, guabano, and sampalok to the participants.

The event was actively supported by partners from the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of Cantabon, Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, and Philippine Army.

This collaborative effort highlights the shared commitment of government agencies and local communities in environmental protection and sustainable development in the province.

🌿 HAPPENING NOW | Opening Ceremony of the 34th Provincial Environment Month 🌿

The 34th Provincial Environment Month Celebration officially opens today, led by Provincial Environment Management Officer Atty. Julie Ann Bedrio bringing together environmental champions, partners, and stakeholders in a shared commitment to environmental protection and sustainability. πŸŒπŸ’š

Delivering his message is the DENR NIR Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services, Joan Nathaniel F. Gerangaya highlighting the importance of collective action in safeguarding our natural resources and strengthening environmental stewardship.

Also present and sharing their messages of support are EMB-NIR Regional Director For. Vicente S. LosbaΓ±es, and Economic and Climate Counsellor of the British Embassy Manila, Mr. Lloyd Cameron, who serves as the Keynote Speaker for the event.

The opening ceremony is also attended by valued partners from Local Government Units (LGUs), National Government Agencies (NGAs), academe, and other stakeholders, reaffirming a united commitment toward a greener and more sustainable future.

KABANKALAN CITY, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL β€” The DENR CENRO Kabankalan City officially launched its Philippine Environment Month 2026 activities on World Environment Day with a major nursery operation.

CENRO personnel, staff, and on-the-job trainees (OJTs) teamed up at the Forest Nursery in Brgy. I to prepare 1,000 polybags of soil media, jumpstarting the office's massive forest seedling production.

This year’s theme focuses on fostering community spirit and protecting the environment. By boosting local reforestation and forest protection, CENRO Kabankalan aims to actively combat climate change.

🌱 HAPPENING NOW | Tree Planting Activity for World Environment Day 2026 🌍

In celebration of World Environment Day, a total of 50 Tugas seedlings and 50 Narra seedlings were successfully planted in Jantianon,Amlan, Negros Oriental through a collaborative Tree Planting Activity spearheaded by DENR PENRO Negros Oriental and CENRO Dumaguete City, together with representatives from the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) and PO KAPATIRAN.
