DENR - PENRO Negros Occidental

PENRO Negros Occidental, together with representatives from TSPS, MKNP, NNNP, and SMR, successfully conducted a Coastal Clean-Up Activity at Brgy. Vito, Sagay City, Negros Occidental, as part of the celebration of the Month of the Ocean.

Led by OIC PENR Officer Forester Catherine Balasa, the activity gathered 75 participants, including members of various People’s Organizations, all united in protecting and conserving our coastal environment. Through teamwork and environmental stewardship, the participants successfully collected 16 sacks of plastic waste and coastal debris, helping restore the beauty and cleanliness of the shoreline.

Following the clean-up, the team also conducted an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) session highlighting the significance of the Month of the Ocean and the important role of mangroves in protecting coastal communities, supporting marine biodiversity, and strengthening climate resilience.

This meaningful activity serves as a reminder that every small action contributes to healthier oceans and a more sustainable future for generations to come.

Together, let us continue to protect our seas and preserve the richness of our marine ecosystems.
