Manalo on her appointment as the new Vice President for Research, Extension, and Intellectual Property of CHMSU, effective September 18, 2025, as approved by the Board of Regents.

Carlos Hilado Memorial State University, in partnership with the Extension Managers' Council–Negros Island Region Inc., recently co-organized a three-day training workshop with the theme “Empowering SUCs and LCUs for Transparent and Collaborative Impact Assessment of Extension Programs.” The seminar was held at the SUNN Hotel from Aug. 13 to 15, 2025.
The seminar served as a capacity-building initiative aimed at strengthening the knowledge and skills of participants in conducting effective, transparent and collaborative assessments of extension program outcomes.
As the first official activity of EMC-NIR, the workshop was attended by 72 faculty and staff members representing seven state universities and colleges (SUCs), five local universities and colleges (LUCs), and nine private higher education institutions (HEIs) from the Negros Island Region.
Heading the CHMSU delegation was University President Norberto Mangulabnan, who was joined by AVPAA and OIC of Research, Extension and Intellectual Property Ma. Riza Manalo; Extension and Community Services Director Roger Ray Manzano; Research and Development Director Ricky Acanto; Deputy Director for Ethics Review and Outsourcing Ivy Aboy; Center for Internationalization and External Relations Director Rhoderick Samonte; and Planning Officer III Maria Agnes Arcenas, among others.

Professor Andrew Eusebio Tan, outgoing Vice President for Research, Extension, and Intellectual Property, served as the speaker for the inaugural professorial lecture at Carlos Hilado Memorial State University.
Held on August 13, 2025, at the Function Hall of the Talisay Campus, Prof. Tan delivered a lecture titled “Mobilizing GASS Personnel to Embrace CHMSU’s Strategic Direction.”
