Police Station 4, Bacolod City Police Office, under the supervision of PMAJ MARC JOEIL A RECLAMADO Station Commander,, through its Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) personnel, conducted a lecture with the On-the-Job Training (OJT) Criminology students of STI West Negros University. The activity covered discussions on special features of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC), anti-rape safety tips, anti-bullying awareness, curfew for minors, and the proper reporting of incidents, including the use of the unified emergency hotline 911 and the station hotline number in case of emergencies.

HOSTAGE INCIDENT SA BATAAN, MAPAYAPANG NARESOLBA NG PNP
Mapayapang naresolba ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ang isang hostage-taking incident sa Orion, Bataan noong Mayo 19, 2026, kung saan nailigtas ang isang babae matapos ang maingat na negosasyon ng mga awtoridad.
Batay sa ulat, agad na rumesponde ang mga pulis ng Orion Municipal Police Station matapos makatanggap ng tawag mula sa barangay hinggil sa isang lalaking armado ng patalim na umano’y nagbihag sa kanyang asawa sa loob ng kanilang bahay.
Pagdating ng mga pulis sa lugar, nadatnan ang suspek na hawak sa leeg ang biktima habang tinututukan ng kutsilyo at nagbabanta umano na sasaktan ang biktima. Sa kabila ng tensyonadong sitwasyon, nanatiling kalmado at maingat ang mga awtoridad upang matiyak ang kaligtasan ng biktima at maiwasan ang anumang kapahamakan.
Dumating sa lugar sina PCOL Maritess A. Salvadora, Provincial Director ng Bataan PPO, at PMAJ Madtaib M. Jalman, Chief of Police ng Orion MPS, upang pangunahan ang negosasyon sa suspek. Sa pamamagitan ng tuloy-tuloy na pakikipag-usap at mahinahong paghawak sa sitwasyon, boluntaryong sumuko ang suspek at walang sinuman ang nasaktan.
Narekober sa lugar ang isang kitchen knife at isang gunting na may matulis na dulo na ginamit umano ng suspek sa pananakot sa biktima.
Pinuri ni Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. ang ipinakitang propesyonalismo, disiplina, at malasakit ng mga pulis na rumesponde sa insidente.
“Sa ganitong klaseng operasyon, pinakamahalaga ang pagprotekta sa buhay. Ipinakita ng ating mga kapulisan ang katatagan, pagpipigil, at malasakit upang maresolba ang sitwasyon nang mapayapa,” ani ni PGen Nartatez.
Dagdag pa niya, “Hindi lang pagpapatupad ng batas ang tungkulin ng PNP. Bahagi rin ng ating tungkulin ang tiyaking ligtas ang mga biktima at may agarang tulong at proteksyong naibibigay sa oras ng panganib.”
Kasalukuyang nasa kustodiya ng Orion MPS ang suspek habang inihahanda ang kasong Hostage Taking sa ilalim ng Article 267 ng Revised Penal Code at paglabag sa RA 9262 o Violence Against Women and Their Children Act. Samantala, isinailalim naman sa medico-legal examination at counseling assistance ang biktima sa tulong ng kinauukulang ahensya.
Patuloy na pinaiigting ng PNP ang kakayahan nito sa crisis response at negotiation operations upang matiyak ang kaligtasan at proteksyon ng mamamayan sa panahon ng panganib at krisis. Ito ay alinsunod sa bisyon ng Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.

PNP NETS HIGH-VALUE DRUG PERSONALITY IN ₱28.56-M SHABU HAUL
The Philippine National Police, under the leadership of Chief, PNP, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., intensified its anti-illegal drugs campaign following the arrest of a high-value drug personality during a buy-bust operation conducted by operatives of the Bacolod City Police Office City Drug Enforcement Unit (BCPO CDEU) on May 19, 2026, in Brgy. 31, Bacolod City, which resulted in the confiscation of more or less 4,200 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated Standard Drug Price value of PHP28,560,000.00.
Arrested was alias “Bongi,” a 36-year-old Filipina identified as a high-value individual involved in illegal drug activities in the area. The suspect was apprehended after handing over a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer in exchange for buy-bust money amounting to PHP7,000.00. Confiscated from her possession and control were seven heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets and five knot-tied transparent plastic bags containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu recovered in Brgy. 31, Bacolod City, with the total haul valued at PHP28,560,000.00.
The arrested suspect was informed of her Constitutional Rights in accordance with the Miranda Doctrine in Hiligaynon, a language known and understood by her. Meanwhile, the seized pieces of evidence will be submitted to the PNP Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination, while inventory procedures were conducted in accordance with Section 21 of Republic Act 9165.
PGEN Nartatez underscored the PNP’s firm commitment to sustaining relentless operations against illegal drugs and criminality across the country.
“Operations like this show that the PNP remains relentless in going after individuals who continue to destroy communities through illegal drugs. We will continue to strengthen our campaign and ensure that those involved are held accountable before the law,” said PGEN Nartatez.
“Hindi kami titigil hangga’t may mga taong nagpapakalat ng ilegal na droga sa ating mga komunidad. Patuloy naming poprotektahan ang mamamayan laban sa mga banta ng kriminalidad,” dagdag ni PGEN Nartatez.
The accomplishment also reflects the continuing implementation of the PNP Focused Agenda—an operational framework for organizational transformation aimed at making police service more responsive and dependable to the needs of the public. Among its key priorities highlighted in this operation is Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which strengthens law enforcement efforts against illegal drugs and other forms of criminality through sustained police action and intensified field operations.
“Illegal drugs continue to fuel violence, fear, and the destruction of families and communities. The PNP will sustain focused enforcement efforts to prevent these illegal activities from gaining ground in our neighborhoods,” said PGEN Nartatez.
“Malinaw ang mensahe namin sa mga sangkot sa bentahan ng ilegal na droga—hahabulin kayo ng batas at mananagot kayo sa inyong mga ginawa,” ani PGEN Nartatez.
As the PNP continues to intensify its nationwide campaign against illegal drugs and criminality under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., it continues to assure the public of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman.”

*PNP ACG Intensifies Nationwide Crackdown vs. Online Libel; 273 Cases Referred, 32 Arrested*
From January 1 to May 15, 2026, the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP ACG) referred a total of 276 cases to prosecution for filing formal charges involving online libel. Furthermore, the Group conducted 32 police operations in the same period, which resulted in the arrest of 32 individuals nationwide. These operations were carried out by different Special Operating Units (SOUs), Regional Anti-Cybercrime Units (RACUs), Provincial and City Cyber Response Teams (PCRTs/CCRTs), and District Anti-Cybercrime Teams (DACTs) of the PNP ACG.
The arrested individuals are facing charges for violation of Section 4(c)(4) of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012), which carries the penalty of prisión correccional maximum to prisión mayor minimum, or imprisonment ranging from four (4) years, two (2) months and one (1) day to eight (8) years.
The unlawful or prohibited act of libel under Section 4(c)(4) of Republic Act No. 10175 refers to libel committed through writing or similar means, as defined under Article 355 of the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines.
Under Article 355, libel is a public and malicious imputation of a crime, vice, defect, or any act, omission, condition, status, or circumstance tending to cause dishonor, discredit, or contempt of a person, committed by means of writing, printing, lithography, engraving, radio, phonograph, painting, theatrical exhibition, cinematographic exhibition, or any similar means, including those committed through information and communication technology.
When libel is committed through information and communication technology, it is classified as a cybercrime offense and is penalized one degree higher pursuant to RA No. 10175.
PMGEN Wilson C. Asueta, Director of the PNP ACG, lauded the men and women of the PNP ACG for their significant accomplishments and emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration between law enforcement authorities and the public in combating cybercrime. He stressed that the continuous implementation of anti-cybercrime operations demonstrates the organization’s commitment to ensuring that cybercrime laws are strictly enforced and offenders are held accountable.
The operation supports the directive of PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief of the PNP, to strengthen the implementation of anti-cybercrime laws and intensify efforts against individuals and groups engaged in online criminal activities.
