Pinapaliwanag ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) ang rehistradong may-ari at drayber ng isang Toyota Fortuner na tampok sa viral video kaugnay ng umano’y paggamit ng hindi awtorisadong blinkers at siren sa pampublikong lansangan.

Sa kumakalat na footage online, makikita ang komprontasyon sa pagitan ng drayber ng SUV at ng isang indibidwal na kumuha ng video matapos mapansin ang paggamit ng mga kagamitang karaniwang nakalaan lamang sa mga awtorisadong emergency at government response vehicles.

Dahil dito, pinadadalo ng LTO ang rehistradong may-ari at ang drayber ng sasakyan sa Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) ng LTO Central Office sa Hunyo 2, 2026, alas-11 ng umaga upang sagutin ang mga posibleng paglabag kaugnay ng paggamit ng unauthorized blinkers, motor vehicle operating with siren, at improper person to operate a motor vehicle.

Iniutos din ng ahensya na dalhin ang nasabing sasakyan upang agad na alisin at pormal na isuko ang nakakabit na blinkers at siren.

Kasabay nito, isinailalim sa alarm status ang naturang sasakyan habang pansamantalang suspendido sa loob ng 90-araw ang lisensya ng drayber at kinakailangang agad itong isumite sa IID.

Ayon kay LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao, hindi dapat ginagamit ng mga pribadong motorista ang mga ilaw at sirenang nagbibigay ng impresyon na sila ay may espesyal na pribilehiyo sa kalsada.

“Hindi status symbol ang blinkers at sirena. Nakalaan lamang ang mga ito sa mga sasakyang may awtoridad at ginagamit sa tunay na emergency response. Hindi natin papayagan na abusuhin ito para manindak o makalusot sa trapiko,” ani Lacanilao.

Dagdag pa niya, “Kaya malinaw ang mensahe natin sa publiko: kung hindi kayo awtorisado, alisin na ninyo ang mga nakakabit na blinkers, wang-wang, at kahalintulad na kagamitan. Hindi ito palamuti at lalong hindi ito nagbibigay ng espesyal na karapatan sa kalsada.”

Patuloy namang pinaigting ng LTO ang kampanya laban sa mga sasakyang gumagamit ng illegal warning devices bilang bahagi ng pagsusulong ng disiplina, respeto, at pantay-pantay na pagpapatupad ng batas-trapiko sa bansa.

The Investigation and Intelligence Unit (IIU) of Land Transportation Office – Negros Island Region (LTO-NIR) under the supervision of OIC Regional Director Jeck D. Conlu and Assistant Regional Director Monico A. Puentevella Jr., received the surrendered driver’s license of a respondent on May 26, 2026, at around 9:50 AM at the LTO-NIR Regional Office in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

The respondent voluntarily appeared before the agency following the service of a Resolution related to a previous traffic incident involving a pickup vehicle and a public utility jeepney, which resulted in the jeepney overturning. The respondent also paid the corresponding fine for reckless driving in compliance with existing transportation laws and regulations.

The surrender of the driver’s license forms part of the administrative process being implemented by LTO-NIR in line with its continuing commitment to road safety, accountability, and responsible driving among motorists in the region.

The Investigation and Intelligence Unit (IIU) of Land Transportation Office – Negros Island Region served a Resolution on May 25, 2026, at the LTO-NIR Regional Office in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City regarding a complaint involving the alleged misrepresentation of nationality in the procurement of a driver’s license.

After evaluation, authorities found no sufficient basis to impose penalties for fraudulent misrepresentation due to lack of substantial evidence. However, the respondent’s driver’s license was confiscated to facilitate the correction of the nationality reflected in the official records.

LTO-NIR, under the supervision of OIC Regional Director Jeck D. Conlu and Assistant Regional Director Monico A. Puentevella Jr., reiterated its commitment to ensuring accurate licensing records and upholding due process in all proceedings.
