We owe every child a loving and nurturing home.
Today, our office received a distressing report of a father physically harming his daughter. Our social workers immediately coordinated with law enforcement to ensure the childβs safety, and to take the father to police custody.
The child is now under the protective care of the Department of Social Services and Development-Bacolod City and the City remains fully committed to providing her with the support and services she needs for her healing and well-being. Appropriate child abuse charges will be prepared.
Violence against children has no place in our community. No child should ever live in fear.

After a 52-hour trip starting May 14, 2026, DSSD Social Worker Meljoy Baliguas and staff Ann Jee Aristorenas, together with PNP personnel, facilitated the safe recovery and turnover of a minor from MSWDO San Francisco, Agusan del Sur.
DSSD coordinated the discharge process and ensured the childβs safe return to her parents, while continuing to provide appropriate medical, legal, and psychosocial support.
This successful intervention highlights the importance of inter-agency collaboration in safeguarding the welfare and protection of children.

No rugby boys or girls were observed during the operation. However, several individuals and families in street situations were found constructing illegal structures along the streets despite repeated warnings issued by the team and the City Legal Office.
Upon validation, it was confirmed that some of these individuals and families have existing homes in their respective barangays. They were therefore advised to return to their residences, as a clearing operation in coordination with the City Legal Office is scheduled to follow.
Meanwhile, individuals and families identified as residents of other cities or municipalities were properly referred to their respective CSWDO/MSWDO local government units for appropriate intervention and assistance.
