Held at Negros Residences on August 25, 2025, the SK Awards and PYDC Recognition acknowledged the outstanding contributions, leadership, and initiatives of Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) councils that successfully achieved the Ideal Functionality Assessment conducted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). These awards highlight exemplary SK performance, promote best practices, and encourage sustained youth participation and effective governance at the local level.

These awards cultivate a culture of excellence and highlight the incredible potential of youth to shape the present and future.

They remind us that meaningful change starts with people who care enough to act—young leaders who inspire hope, make spaces, and leave a legacy of empowerment for generations to come. 💙✨

As we wrap up Provincial Youth Day 2025, we are once again reminded that the strength of Negros is in its youth.

Tday, we discovered opportunities from our very own provincial offices, heard stories that opened our eyes to the struggles and triumphs of our fellow youth, and shared ideas on mental health, climate action, and inclusion that can change the way we lead in our communities.

We were also able to see each other, hear each other, and realize that we’re not alone in bearing hope for a better Negros.

We go home tired but full— full of hope, full of new friendships, and full of the drive to keep the work going long after today. Padayon sa pagpanikasog, pamatan-on. The future is in our hands, and it’s looking bright. ✨

We are now down to our last panel discussion. Their talk focuses on how Youth can be Catalysts for Social Inclusion. Our speakers tackle how we can champion for a safer, more friendly, hotel environment, and how we as a community can cultivate a more inclusive space for the youths in the province.

During the Panel Discussion on Youth Leading the Change for a Greener Planet, speakers provided insights on how young people can address environmental issues in Negros Occidental.

We have now reached the halfway point of our program, and our enthusiasm remains strong!

This morning was incredibly insightful as we learned from the Bridging Opportunities presentations, featuring the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA), Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center (NOLITC), Negros Occidental Scholarship Program Division (NOSP), Population and Development Division (POPDEV), and the Special Programs and Concerns Division - Sports.

By exploring these government programs, we are enhancing and strengthening local youth initiatives across the province.

The Provincial Youth Development Council-Negros Occidental (PYDC), in conjunction with LGUs, CSOs, SK, and youth organizations, is holding a province-wide youth day celebration at the Social Hall, Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol, today.
