Sports Fest, Science Fair, and Buwan ng Wika Celebration 2026

Progressive Senior High School successfully concluded its week-long Sports Fest, Science Fair, and Buwan ng Wika Celebration, bringing together learners in a vibrant showcase of sportsmanship, scientific inquiry, creativity, and Filipino culture.

Throughout the celebration, students actively participated in various sporting events such as volleyball, table tennis, e-games, and traditional Filipino games (Palarong Pinoy), promoting teamwork, discipline, and camaraderie. The Science Fair also provided opportunities for learners to demonstrate their knowledge and skills through activities such as slogan making, quiz bee competitions, and science exhibits.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the Ginoo at Binibining Progressive 2026, which integrated the themes of Science Fair and Buwan ng Wika. Contestants showcased creativity by utilizing locally available materials from Bacoor, such as tahong (mussels) and other indigenous resources in their attire and presentations. They also confidently answered questions using the Filipino language, demonstrating not only their wit and communication skills but also their appreciation of Filipino culture and identity.

Overall, the week-long celebration was a meaningful and memorable experience that fostered holistic development among learners by nurturing their talents, creativity, cultural awareness, scientific thinking, and sportsmanship.

Parenting Seminar and First Term Report Card Distribution

Progressive Senior High School successfully conducted a Parenting Seminar and First Term Report Card Distribution for the parents and guardians of Grade 11 and Grade 12 learners on September 18, 2026. The activity aimed to strengthen the partnership between the school and families in supporting the holistic development and academic success of learners.

The school extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Reach Out and Save (ROS) Foundation, Inc. for its invaluable support in making this seminar possible, especially to its Founding Chairman, Bishop Jeremiah R. Cruzen, who served as the resource speaker. During the seminar, Bishop Cruzen shared practical insights on effective parenting, highlighting the topic “7 Love Languages: Empowering Parents to Connect with Their Children,” which emphasized the importance of building strong and meaningful relationships within the family.

Following the seminar, a Parent-Teacher Conference and First Term Report Card Distribution were conducted, providing parents and class advisers the opportunity to discuss learners' academic performance, behavior, and areas for improvement. This meaningful engagement further strengthened home-school collaboration in ensuring the success and well-being of every learner.

Division Validation of the School Governance Council (SGC)

Progressive Senior High School proudly celebrates its achievement of 10 out of 12 Functional Indicators during the recent Division Validation of the School Governance Council (SGC). This milestone reflects the school's strong commitment to collaboration, good governance, and continuous improvement.

This accomplishment was made possible through the dedication of SGC Secretary Ms. K.C. Kathlyn M. Jose, SGC Designated Chairperson Mrs. Marie Jhossa B. Progressive Senior High School Faculty Enhances Skills and Well-Being in Two-Day INSET

The teaching staff of Progressive Senior High School completed a two-day In-Service Training (INSET) on September 10 and 11, 2026, aimed at strengthening instructional practices and promoting educator wellness. The seminar was conducted under the guidance of School Principal Dr. Mary Ann P. Rodrigo, together with Master Teachers Mr. Lemuel D. Arbolado and Dr. Maria Susette G. Palao.

The first day opened with a virtual session centered on Monitoring Learner Progress and Achievement Using Learner Attainment Data. Mr. Harold Jed C. Hernandez discussed the effective application of student attainment data and guided teachers through a workshop on crafting targeted intervention plans. Following this, Mrs. Mary Grace P. Abustan addressed reflective practice and the alignment of career goals with the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST). Participants drafted their own PPST-aligned development plans during the afternoon workshop, concluding the day by presenting their outputs for review and feedback from the resource speakers and master teachers.

The focus shifted toward social-emotional learning and classroom stress management on the second day, featuring guest speakers from Reach Out and Save (ROS) Foundation Inc. Rev. John Apawan, LPT, Vice President and Corporate Secretary of the foundation, led an interactive discussion helping teachers identify common stressors and offering practical approaches to managing daily pressure. Bishop Jeremiah R. Cruzen, Founding Chairman of the foundation, concluded the training with a talk on personal peace and building strong interpersonal relationships within the community. The two-day program provided the faculty with useful strategies to refine their teaching methods while maintaining personal well-being.

School-Based Learning Action Cell on Canva Education and Artificial Intelligence

August 28, 2026 – Teachers, under the mentorship of Dr. Maria Susette G. Palao, participated in a School-Based Learning Action Cell (SLAC) titled "Empowering Educators with Canva Education and Artificial Intelligence." The session aimed to enhance teachers’ digital competencies and equip them with innovative tools to support effective classroom instruction.

The resource speaker, Ms. K.C. Kathlyn M. Jose, Teacher I, provided an informative discussion on the history and development of Canva, its growing role in education, and the Department of Education's guidelines on the responsible and ethical use of Canva AI in teaching and learning. She emphasized how these digital tools can help educators create engaging, accessible, and interactive learning materials.

A highlight of the session was the introduction of the eight Canva AI tools, where participants explored their features and practical applications in educational settings. To demonstrate their understanding, teachers were tasked with creating and submitting outputs that incorporated the Canva AI tools discussed during the lecture.

During the session, Dr. Palao encouraged teachers to integrate the knowledge and skills gained from the training into their classroom practices. She emphasized that the innovative strategies and technologies presented should be reflected in lesson plans, instructional materials, and classroom discussions, particularly during classroom observations.

The activity concluded on a positive note, with teachers expressing their appreciation for the timely and relevant learning opportunity.
